BMC empowers nearly 80% of the Forbes Global 100 to accelerate business value, faster than humanly possible. Our industry-leading portfolio unlocks human and machine potential to drive business growth, innovation, and sustainable success. BMC does this in a simple and optimized way by connecting people, systems, and data that power the world's largest organizations so they can seize a competitive advantage.
About the role:
The Project Architect is a senior technical leader responsible for designing and delivering enterprise-grade BMC Control M Distributed, Control M for z/OS (Mainframe), and Control M SaaS solutions. This role drives the end-to-end solution architecture, hybrid migration strategy, and technical governance across the full project lifecycle.
The Architect partners with Sales, Professional Services, and customer stakeholders to ensure solutions are scalable, aligned to business requirements, and successfully implemented. This role also provides guidance to delivery teams and serves as a subject matter expert for workload automation solutions.
Additionally, this role serves as the leader responsible for developing automation, AI-enabled solutions, repeatable migration/conversion blueprints, and governance practices that improve scalability, consistency, and delivery efficiency across multiple simultaneous migration programs.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead architecture and design of Control M Distributed, Control M for z/OS (Mainframe), and Control M SaaS solutions in complex enterprise environments
  • Define and execute migration and conversion strategies from legacy scheduling, workload automation, and output management platforms (e.g., CA7, AutoSys, IBM Workload Scheduler, Tidal, Redwood, CA 1, and CA View/Deliver) to the Control-M platform.
  • Build and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), automated pre-processors, and repeatable execution paths to facilitate concurrent migrations.
  • Conduct customer discovery sessions and define solution scope, architecture, and implementation approach
  • Review and validate Statements of Work (SOW) to ensure technical feasibility and delivery alignment
  • Provide technical leadership throughout delivery, ensuring solutions align with architecture and best practices
  • Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues and at-risk projects
  • Design integration between Control-M and enterprise applications, databases, and third-party systems
  • Develop and contribute to architecture documentation, migration plans, and best practice frameworks
  • Provide architectural governance across multiple concurrent customer engagements, ensuring consistency, quality, repeatability, and risk management.
  • Mentor consultants and support team development through technical leadership and coaching
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, Product, Support, and BMC AI teams to ensure aligned customer outcomes
  • Present technical strategies, migration approaches, risks, and recommendations to executive stakeholders and customer leadership team

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise workload automation, infrastructure engineering, and solution architecture
  • Strong expertise in BMC Control M Distributed and Control M SaaS (design, deployment, fine-tuning, and operations)
  • Deep hands-on experience with enterprise mainframe environments, including z/OS, Sysplex architectures, workload automation, JCL, tape management, output management, and batch processing operations.
  • Proven experience leading migration and conversion projects from enterprise schedulers
  • Strong understanding of enterprise IT environments across distributed systems (Linux/Windows) and cloud platforms
  • Experience designing integrated, scalable, and high-availability solutions
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
