Job description

Viceroy Hotels & Resorts offers a fresh take on hospitality, centered on the richness of experiences and cultural connection. A leader in modern luxury, Viceroy is committed to creating unique, immersive experiences that allow guests to craft unforgettable narratives rooted in the authenticity of each destination. Viceroy’s portfolio of hotels and resorts can be found in a diverse array of breathtaking and inspiring locations including Los Cabos, Santa Monica, Chicago, Riviera Maya, Kopaonik, Snowmass, Washington D.C., St. Lucia, and Portugal’s Algarve, with a forthcoming resort in Sun Valley, Idaho slated to open in summer 2026.

Viceroy Santa Monica, CA

We are seeking an Area Marketing Manager to oversee marketing for Viceroy Santa Monica and Hyatt Centric Delfina Santa Monica. This role will be instrumental in driving topline revenue, brand visibility, and market positioning for both hotels through the execution of integrated marketing strategies, seasonal campaigns, partnerships, and compelling activations and experiences. Working closely with the Area/Property Sales & Marketing leadership, hotel operations and food & beverage teams, and the respective Viceroy and Hyatt brand/corporate marketing teams, this role will bring each brand's initiatives to life at the property level while maintaining distinct identities and a strong sense of place within the Santa Monica and greater Los Angeles market.

This role is ideal for a self-starter with a passion for luxury and lifestyle hospitality, experiential travel, culture, food and beverage, and destination marketing—someone who can seamlessly blend strategic thinking with hands-on execution while managing priorities across two distinct hotel brands.

The Area Marketing Manager will have a proven track record in a similar hotel marketing role, ideally within luxury and/or lifestyle hospitality. This individual will be responsible for executing property-level and area marketing initiatives that align with each hotel's brand strategy, support commercial goals, strengthen local market relevance, and elevate the guest experience across all touchpoints.

Success in this role requires strong collaboration, attention to detail, creative problem-solving, an understanding of luxury/lifestyle travel and Southern California market trends, and the ability to translate two distinct brand visions into impactful campaigns, partnerships, content, and storytelling moments. The Area Marketing Manager must be highly organized and comfortable balancing shared area opportunities with property-specific priorities.

General Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Partner with Sales & Marketing leadership for both hotels to execute annual marketing, PR, and market-positioning strategies based on company goals, revenue targets, business needs, and brand priorities.
  • Serve as the day-to-day marketing lead across Viceroy Santa Monica and Hyatt Centric Delfina Santa Monica, ensuring appropriate focus, responsiveness, and execution for both properties.
  • Collaborate closely with the respective Viceroy and Hyatt corporate/brand marketing teams to localize and activate brand campaigns, seasonal narratives, programs, and key initiatives at the property level.
  • Protect and differentiate the identity, voice, positioning, and brand standards of each hotel while identifying opportunities for shared efficiencies, cross-property collaboration, and area-wide initiatives when appropriate.
  • Ensure a cohesive and integrated marketing approach across hotel accommodations, food & beverage outlets, meetings and events, and other guest experiences, balancing outlet needs with each property's overarching brand strategy.
  • Manage integrated marketing campaigns across PR, revenue strategy, social media, digital marketing, CRM/email, content, partnerships, and distribution in support of leisure, group, meetings, events, and food & beverage priorities.
  • Develop and execute campaigns that strengthen each hotel's relevance within Santa Monica, Los Angeles, and key feeder markets, with an emphasis on local culture, lifestyle, beach, culinary, entertainment, and experiential travel.
  • Coordinate events, media visits, influencer stays, press FAMs, photo/video shoots, and brand activations, ensuring experiences align with positioning, commercial priorities, and storytelling goals for the appropriate hotel.
  • Liaise with travel industry partners, destination organizations, consortiums, PR firms, social media agencies, creative partners, and other external accounts as needed.
  • Work with designated third-party representation companies and agencies regarding PR and marketing needs as directed by Sales & Marketing leadership and/or the respective corporate brand teams.
  • Manage and liaise with creative, advertising, digital, social, and PR agencies to develop campaigns, collateral, content, press-worthy stories, and events.
  • Create and support client, community, media, influencer, and partner events that drive awareness, engagement, and commercial value.
  • Work in tandem with Sales & Marketing leadership to identify and secure strategic partnerships, then manage execution of marketing-oriented action plans and deliverables.
  • Develop media and marketing plans and track campaign performance, business impact, and ROI through analytics, reporting, and actionable insights.
  • Create and maintain property-specific marketing/PR action plans and content calendars aligned with seasonal themes, brand moments, need periods, and business priorities.
  • Maintain clear project timelines, budgets, asset needs, approvals, and communication across both hotels and their respective brand stakeholders.
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual marketing recaps for both properties, highlighting performance, insights, opportunities, and recommended next steps.
  • Attend and/or lead marketing meetings, commercial meetings, property meetings, and daily/weekly briefings as required.
  • Maintain brand standards and represent the values and service culture of both Viceroy Santa Monica and Hyatt Centric Delfina Santa Monica.
  • Perform other job duties and projects as directed.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience in a luxury, lifestyle, or upper-upscale hotel/resort environment required; experience with multiple properties or brands strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar marketing, communications, or PR role within hospitality.
  • Experience marketing an urban, coastal, or Southern California lifestyle destination is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of integrated hotel marketing, including digital, social media, PR, partnerships, content, email/CRM, and performance reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple properties, stakeholders, campaigns, and deadlines simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, multi-brand environment.
  • Ability to adapt marketing strategy, creative direction, tone, and execution to distinct brand identities and guest segments.
  • Service-oriented mindset with an approachable, authentic, collaborative, and engaging demeanor.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information to clients, partners, agencies, leadership, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of marketing analytics and the ability to translate performance data into insights and recommendations.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively across two hotel teams and be present on property as business needs require.
