Job description

LMI Group LLC is looking for a Freight Operations Specialist to help manage the day-to-day movement of customer freight. This is a hands-on operations role for someone who communicates well, stays on top of details, and knows how to keep a shipment moving when plans change.


You’ll work directly with carriers, drivers, customers, and our internal team from pickup through delivery. A big part of the job is knowing what’s happening with each shipment and addressing problems before they become bigger ones.


Day-to-Day Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate freight pickups, transit schedules, and final deliveries.
  • Track active shipments and confirm important pickup and delivery milestones.
  • Communicate directly with carriers and drivers regarding schedules, delays, and special instructions.
  • Provide customers with clear and timely shipment updates.
  • Review bills of lading, delivery confirmations, shipment details, and other freight paperwork.
  • Handle issues such as missed pickups, appointment changes, delayed freight, and delivery exceptions.
  • Work with the operations and customer service teams when a shipment requires additional attention.
  • Keep shipment records accurate and properly updated throughout the day.


What We’re Looking For:


  • Experience in freight, transportation, logistics, dispatch, shipping, or a similar operations environment is preferred.
  • Strong communication and follow-through.
  • Able to manage several active shipments without losing track of details.
  • Comfortable speaking with carriers, drivers, and customers.
  • Good judgment when dealing with unexpected transportation issues.
