Air & Ocean Import Specialist

Chicago, IL

Salary up to $60,000 + Benefits

An international freight forwarder based in Downtown Chicago is looking to hire an Air & Ocean Import Specialist to join their growing operations team.

This opportunity is ideal for someone with around 2+ years of freight forwarding experience handling either Air Imports, Ocean Imports, or both. The company is looking for an individual wanting to continue developing their career within a fast-paced international logistics environment.

Responsibilities

  • Handle full AZ Air Import and/or Ocean Import shipments
  • Coordinate shipments from origin through final delivery
  • Communicate with overseas agents, airlines, steamship lines, truckers, warehouses, and customers
  • Monitor shipment progress and provide proactive updates to clients
  • Prepare and manage import documentation accurately
  • Work closely with customs brokerage teams when required
  • Ensure timely billing, invoicing, and file management
  • Resolve shipment delays and operational issues efficiently
  • Maintain compliance with company procedures and import regulations

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience within freight forwarding operations
  • Experience handling Air Imports, Ocean Imports, or both
  • Knowledge of the full AZ import process
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment
  • CargoWise experience is highly preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Team player with a proactive attitude
