Director of Logistics and Warehouse

Pay Range: $130,000 - $150,000/Yr DOE

About MITY Inc.

MITY Inc. is a leading manufacturer of commercial furniture and seating solutions headquartered in Orem, Utah. Since 1987, we have grown into a family of trusted brands, including MityLite, Holsag, Bertolini, and Broda. Our products serve hotels, universities, healthcare and senior-living communities, houses of worship, convention centers, and public venues throughout the world.

At MITY, you will have the opportunity to build and lead a function central to our manufacturing operation and customer experience. You will have the support and visibility to create lasting systems, develop a strong team, and make a measurable impact across the business.

About the Role

MITY Inc. is seeking a Director of Logistics and Warehouse to lead the end-to-end flow of raw materials, components, and finished goods across our manufacturing operations. This leader will oversee warehouse operations, inventory control, inbound and outbound logistics, distribution, freight performance, and the teams and systems supporting those functions.

This is a builder role for an experienced manufacturing logistics leader who can assess current operations, establish a dependable warehouse operating system, and lead meaningful change. The Director will balance strategy with visible leadership on the warehouse floor, improving safety, accuracy, efficiency, and on-time delivery while serving Production, Procurement, Quality, Sales, and Customer Service as strong internal partners.

What You’ll Own
  • Warehouse Strategy and Systems: Develop a scalable logistics and warehousing strategy with clear processes for receiving, put-away, storage, replenishment, picking, packing, staging, loading, and shipping.
  • Material Flow and Warehouse Design: Improve layout, slotting, storage, dock operations, and material flow to reduce delays, congestion, rework, unnecessary handling, and production disruptions.
  • Inventory Accuracy: Lead cycle counting, reconciliation, audits, transaction discipline, and root-cause corrective action to achieve reliable inventory accuracy.
  • Technology and Performance: Strengthen the use of ERP and warehouse-management systems, RF scanning, reporting, and automation. Establish KPIs for accuracy, delivery, throughput, productivity, freight cost, and service.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Work closely with Production, Planning, Procurement, Quality, Sales, and Customer Service to align priorities and resolve issues affecting production schedules, customer commitments, or delivery.
  • Transportation and Freight: Lead carrier selection, routing, rate and contract negotiation, claims management, and performance across LTL, FTL, oversized, and specialized shipments.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, and other initiatives that reduce waste, strengthen controls, improve throughput, and lower operating costs.
  • Leadership and Workforce Planning: Build an effective team structure; coach and develop supervisors, leads, and team members; and establish staffing plans, schedules, accountability, training, and succession plans.
  • Safety and Compliance: Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, DOT, customs, material-handling, forklift, loading-dock, and hazardous-material requirements.
  • Budget and Growth: Manage the department budget and develop business cases for equipment, technology, automation, layout changes, facility improvements, new product launches, and business growth.
What We’re Looking For

We are looking for an experienced operations leader with at least seven years of progressive responsibility in logistics, warehousing, distribution, supply chain, or a related field, including at least three years leading managers, supervisors, or a sizable warehouse team. Direct manufacturing experience and a strong understanding of production schedules and materials flow are required.

The strongest candidates will have a proven record of building or substantially improving warehouse systems and achieving measurable gains in inventory accuracy, throughput, labor efficiency, order quality, on-time delivery, safety, or cost. Strong WMS/ERP knowledge, data-analysis skills, and experience with transportation management, carrier relationships, and freight negotiation are essential.

This role requires a confident, hands-on leader who can set direction, build trust, develop other leaders, and hold teams accountable. Strong cross-functional communication, change-management, and decision-making skills are critical. A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered. Relevant certifications and experience with automation, material-handling equipment, multi-shift operations, or multi-site processes are a plus.

Work Environment and Schedule

This is a full-time, in-office leadership role based in Orem/Lindon, Utah. The Director will regularly work on the warehouse and manufacturing floor around noise, machinery, and material-handling equipment. Occasional off-shift or weekend availability may be required.
