Job Summary

Help keep shipments moving by resolving freight issues, supporting delivery needs, coordinating with carriers, and partnering with internal teams to deliver a smooth customer experience. The Freight Support Specialist supports Sales, customers, vendors, carriers, distribution partners, and Finance by managing freight inquiries, delivery support, freight claims, billing reviews, and transportation issue resolution. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and comfortable working across multiple systems in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for freight, delivery, carrier, and shipment-related inquiries.
  • Research and resolve delivery exceptions, missed deliveries, short shipments, address corrections, tracking updates, and proof of delivery requests.
  • Coordinate shipment reroutes, carrier pickups, freight quotes, routing guidance, and shipping solutions as needed.
  • File, manage, and follow up on freight claims for damaged, lost, or missed shipments.
  • Work with vendors, carriers, Sales, Customer Service, TIDC, and Finance to resolve service issues, billing discrepancies, accessorial charges, and cargo insurance needs.
  • Support freight audit, logistics, cross-training, and process improvement initiatives across LTL, FTL, and Parcel functions.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is organized, accurate, and comfortable communicating with internal and external partners while managing multiple priorities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Intermediate Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
  • Ability to navigate multiple systems, web-based applications, and ERP platforms such as JD Edwards.
  • Knowledge of freight, logistics, or transportation concepts, including LTL, FTL, Parcel, routing, carrier processes, and geography.
  • Ability to audit, analyze, and resolve freight billing, invoicing, accessorial charges, and claim-related issues.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, documentation, and follow-through.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with vendors, carriers, distribution contacts, Sales, Customer Service, Finance, and other internal partners.
