Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and reliable Sanitation Crew Lead for Day Shift to oversee the sanitation operations in our client's food distribution facility. As the Sanitation Crew Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring that the warehouse meets the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety. You will lead a team of sanitation workers, manage daily cleaning tasks, enforce safety and health regulations, and contribute to a clean and organized work environment that supports our commitment to food safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Supervision:
    • Lead, supervise, and train sanitation crew members in daily sanitation tasks and procedures.
    • Assign and oversee sanitation duties to ensure proper completion of tasks.
    • Monitor the team's performance and provide guidance and feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Sanitation & Cleaning:
    • Ensure all areas of the food distribution facility (including storage, production, and shipping areas) are cleaned and sanitized according to company and regulatory standards.
    • Perform and/or supervise the cleaning of floors,.
    • Ensure all cleaning chemicals are used safely and according to guidelines.
  • Food Safety & Compliance:
    • Adhere to strict food safety standards (FDA, USDA, and local health regulations) and ensure compliance with company policies.
    • Conduct regular inspections of work areas to ensure cleanliness and safety.
    • Maintain and update sanitation logs and records as required for compliance.
  • Inventory & Equipment Management:
    • Assist the Site Operations Manager with monitoring and maintaining sanitation supplies inventory, ensuring the proper amount of cleaning agents, tools, and equipment are available.
    • Report any equipment issues or safety hazards to management.
  • Safety & Training:
    • Ensure that sanitation crew members follow all safety protocols and wear proper protective equipment.
    • Assist in training new employees on sanitation procedures, safety standards, and the use of equipment.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Assist management in identifying areas for process improvement in cleaning procedures and team performance.

Participate in regular safety meetings and training to stay current with industry standards and best practices

  • Experience:
    • At least 2 years of experience in a sanitation or food safety role, preferably in a food distribution or manufacturing environment.
    • Previous supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Knowledge of sanitation chemicals, cleaning equipment, and food safety regulations.
    • Ability to manage a team and ensure high-quality standards.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to train and motivate a team.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
    • Must be able to work in a refrigerated or freezer environment as needed.
    • Ability to perform repetitive tasks and maintain attention to detail throughout the shift.
  • Certifications:
    • Food safety certification (HACCP, ServSafe, etc.) is preferred, but not required.
    • OSHA certification or safety training is a plus.

Work Environment:
This position operates in a fast-paced warehouse and food production environment, which can include exposure to cold, wet, and noisy conditions. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times.
