Small Animal Medical Oncologist โ€“ Clinical Research Focus

Location: Austin TX

Austin Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center (AVES) is seeking a board-certified Medical Oncologist to join our newly established Clinical Trial Center, working alongside a board-certified Small Animal Internal Medicine Specialist within our expanding specialty and emergency hospital in Austin, TX. This unique role allows you to blend top-tier clinical oncology with groundbreaking research, working directly with industry leaders in veterinary pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, and treatment innovation.

About the Role:

As part of a two-specialist team, you will:

  • Collaborate with an internist and a dedicated support team to conduct sponsored clinical research trials, including Good Clinical Practice (GCP) trials, proof-of-concept studies, and industry-sponsored investigations.
  • Work with leading pharmaceutical, pet food, device development, and diagnostic companies on cutting-edge veterinary research.
  • Provide gold-standard oncology care while offering clients access to fully funded trials, ensuring the highest level of treatment regardless of financial limitations.
  • See a variety of case types, including some outside of traditional oncology practice, expanding your scope based on new and emerging areas of veterinary research.
  • Benefit from a structured research environment where projects are provided, allowing you to focus on clinical execution and discovery rather than grant writing.
  • Have dedicated time for data entry and research coordination, ensuring high-quality documentation and compliance with study protocols.
