Job Description

This role is based in our Boulder office. 

Nutrition Business Journal (NBJ) is seeking an Editor, Data & Insights, to support both the editorial and data analytics teams in producing high-quality content and insights for Informa publications and events.

This role is ideal for an early-career professional with strong editorial and writing skills, a knack for data analysis, and a desire to contribute to a dynamic and growing industry. In this role, you  will assist with a variety of tasks, including reporting, writing, editing, data analysis, and visualization, while working closely with senior team members to ensure the delivery of impactful content and insights.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Editorial Support:
    • Report and write short- to medium-length content for Nutrition Business Journal and related publications.
    • Synthesize data into clear, concise, and engaging written content for client-facing reports and publications.
    • Perform line edits and execute editorial guidance from the senior editor, including restructuring stories from freelancers.
    • Brainstorm and execute content for Informa events-namely NBJ Summit, Natural Products Expo West, Newtopia Now, and the SupplySide events.
    • Work closely with the managing editor to optimize production timelines.
  • Data Analytics Support:
    • Assist the data analytics team with data modeling and analysis using Microsoft Excel.
    • Visualize data using tools such as Tableau (or demonstrate the ability to learn data visualization software).
    • Translate data into forward-looking analysis, actionable insights, and predictions.

Additional Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Use social media tools to promote content and engage with the audience.
  • Collaborate with the editorial and data teams to ensure seamless integration of data-driven insights into editorial content.
  • Support the creation of client-facing reports by combining editorial and data elements.
  • Contribute to creating and moderating digital/virtual events as requested.

Secondary Tasks:

  • Attend industry events such as Natural Products Expo West, NBJ Summit, Newtopia Now, and other trade events as necessary.
  • Serve as a representative of New Hope Network and NBJ at public events and on press trips.
  • Collaborate with other team members to produce video content for newhope.com. Interview industry experts on video at events such as Natural Products Expos.
  • Take on special projects as requested.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Data Analytics, Business, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of professional experience in editorial roles, data analysis, or a combination of both.
  • Experience in the nutrition, health, or natural products industry is a plus but not required.

Editorial Skills:

  • Strong writing, reporting, and editing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise, and engaging content.
  • Proficiency in synthesizing complex data into accessible written content for diverse audiences.
  • Experience in line editing and restructuring content, including working with freelance contributors.

Data Analytics Skills:

The salary range for this role is $62,500- $70,000, based on experience.
