About the Production Manager Role:
BRIC seeks a Production Manager with a theatrical, visual art exhibition, and/or live events production background to plan and execute productions across BRIC's live event and exhibition portfolio. Reporting to the Associate Director, Live Events & Media Production, the Production Manager will oversee several overlapping projects throughout the year, including galas, rentals, public programs, exhibitions, and house parties, that are in in-person, hybrid, and virtual. They will collaborate across departments including Operations, Development, Partnerships, and Rentals, acting as a day-to-day technical lead from inception through strike. The Production Manager manages crew, vendors, equipment, and on-site execution while collaborating with curators, artists, producers, and clients to deliver work that meets BRIC's artistic and safety standards. This role plays a critical part in serving BRIC's community-centered mission.
What You'll Do in the Role:
The Production Manager will be responsible for the following in addition to any other projects as assigned by their manager, the Associate Director, Live Events & Media Production:
Production Execution
  • Plan, devise, and coordinate technical, staging, and production requirements for assigned events, exhibitions, and rentals
  • Oversee assigned programming from inception through completion, including on-site vendor management
  • Lead production meetings, processes, equipment setup, and crew assignments for assigned projects
  • Act as Production Manager and/or Supervisor on assigned events, overseeing crew and Run of Day
  • Serve as day-to-day technical point of contact for BRIC internal Producers, externals Rental Clients, and various vendors on assigned projects

Exhibitions & Fabrication
  • Collaborate with curators, artists, and directors to design and install exhibitions, including digital drawings, renderings, and fabrication drawings
  • Coordinate printing, framing, mounting, fabrication, A/V tech, and gallery lighting
  • Draft installation timelines and checklists; organize artwork transportation and condition reporting
  • Supervise art handlers and technicians on the floor; install artwork, AV components, and wall graphics
  • Guide fabricators, produce prototypes and production schedules, and maintain safe and working shop equipment (lifts, saws, drill press, hand and power tools)
  • Maintain wood shop, galleries, exhibition storage, and art handler inventory

Crew & Vendor Coordination
  • Recruit, schedule, and onboard freelance and part-time hourly crew for assigned projects
  • Train and mentor freelance staff through load-ins, tech rehearsals, performances, and strikes
  • Manage vendors on-site during events and installations

Administrative & Budget Support
  • Attend production team meetings and contribute to post-production debriefs
  • Track freelance hours and approve timesheets for payroll
  • Maintain project documentation: meeting reports, staffing spreadsheets, production media, manuals
  • Research and purchase materials, process supplier payments, and perform weekly bookkeeping for assigned projects
  • Build project budgets in collaboration with the Associate Director and Director of Production

Policy & Safety
  • Implement production policies and safety protocols on assigned projects
  • Contribute to departmental policy and process improvements

You'll Bring these Skills and Strengths to the Role:

  • Experience & Qualifications:
    • Minimum 5 years' experience as a production manager, project manager, or with a musical touring production, museum/gallery, or non-profit arts space
    • Experience in lighting, audio, projections, theatrical carpentry, and/or art handling, fabrication, and installation
    • Working knowledge of Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Momentus event management software, Zoom, vMix, OBS, CAD, and SketchUp
    • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize a complex workload and collaborate across staff, artists, vendors, and community members of diverse backgrounds
    • OSHA, CPR, and AED certifications, knowledge of ETC consoles and QLab, and a valid driver's license (with 26' box truck experience) are a plus
  • Communication & Relationship Building: Committed to effective communication and building relationships with internal staff, producers, artists, external crew, clients, and vendors.
  • Commitment to Equity & Inclusion: Brings experience operationalizing equity within event production and setting an equity and justice rooted strategy for staffing and team management.

  • Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $65K - $80K.
  • Status and location: This is a full-time, exempt role based in our Brooklyn office.
