Job description

Job Title: Athletic Broadcast Production Assistant

Department: Athletics Staff

Supervisor: Colby Dunaway

Starting Rate of Pay: $8.00/hour

Length of Time: Eligible for rehire on a semester basis.

Department Description

The HPU Athletic Communications department is looking for students who are seeking experience in live broadcast productions on ESPN+ and in-venue video boards. Gain insight on delivering professional quality productions while gaining hands-on experience with the industry standard equipment.

Do you want a career in sports broadcast production media?

Yes? Then you should intern with the HPU Athletic Communications Department to gain hands-on and announcing experience in Division I Athletics.

What would I get to do?

  • Assist with the setup, operation, and teardown of live athletic broadcasts
  • Operate professional broadcast equipment including cameras, replay systems, graphics, audio, and production switchers
  • Learn industry-standard production workflows
  • Chance to connect with freelance professional broadcasters and announcers
  • Develop on-air skills through opportunities in play-by-play and color commentary
  • Collaborate with coaches, student athletes, and athletic communication staff/creative to produce high quality broadcasts
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Location/ Hours Required

The candidate will perform most/all job duties in the Nido and Mariana Qubein Arena and Conference Center, Steele Center, Millis Center, Witcher Center and Willard Stadium. Hours may vary depending on the job requirements; however, the total number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants should be willing to work a variety of jobs, have a basic knowledge of digital media and be prepared to learn new advanced skills. Must work flexible hours including some nights and weekends.
