The Live Production division delivers remote, studio, and mobile unit productions anywhere BMG's clients need them, backed by world-class production management and an extensive freelance crew network.


POSITION OVERVIEW

The Mobile Unit Sales and Operations Manager is the hands-on lead of sales and day to day operations of BMG's mobile production units, supporting live multi-camera productions in news, sports, entertainment, and large-scale corporate events across the United States and Canada. This role works directly with customers and the sales team to develop production budgets, assign the best mobile unit to each project, and ensure every mobile production is planned, staffed, and executed to BMG's standards.

The position manages the full mobile unit lifecycle, from initial client consultation, budgeting, and unit assignment through scheduling, logistics, crewing, and on-site execution. This includes traditional mobile unit productions but primary REMI productions that connect on-site units and crews with remote control rooms and production teams. The role is based at BMG's Washington, DC office or its Toronto, ON office.


POSITION DETAILS

Department: Live Production

Reports To: Executive Vice President of Production

Direct Reports: Mobile unit engineers, and drivers.

Location: Washington, DC or Toronto, ON, full-time, in-office

Travel: Required for site surveys, on-site productions, and client engagements across North America


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales & Budgeting

  • Work directly with customers and the sales team to develop mobile unit production budgets
  • Assign the best mobile unit to each project based on production requirements, technical specifications, schedule, and budget
  • Prepare quotes and proposals for mobile unit and REMI services, ensuring pricing meets the company's expected gross profit margins
  • Support the sales and marketing teams in expanding the mobile unit client base and building long term client engagements
  • Track competitor mobile unit services, rates, and practices, always seeking ways to improve BMG's offering
  • Develop client list targets, perform outreach, and work with sales and marketing on sales and marketing plans
  • Develop annual mobile unit revenue and cost forecast working with the BMG accounting department.


Mobile Unit Operations

  • Manage scheduling, routing, and logistics for BMG's mobile units and flypack systems
  • Oversee mobile unit maintenance, engineering upgrades, and technical readiness so every unit arrives on site fully prepared
  • Coordinate crewing for mobile unit productions, working with staff engineers and BMG's freelance crew network
  • Manage REMI production workflows connecting on-site mobile units with remote control rooms and production teams
  • Build production books, technical documentation, and workflows for each mobile unit project


Clients & Service

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the mobile unit production lifecycle
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by providing outstanding customer service on every project
  • Cultivate strong customer, vendor, and freelancer relationships that create positive impressions of BMG
  • Keep the EVP of Production informed of any technical, staffing, client, operational, or business issues that may arise


REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of mobile broadcast production experience, including working directly with customers to develop budgets and assign the best mobile unit solution to each project
  • Strong working knowledge of REMI production workflows and the technology that supports them
  • Deep understanding of mobile unit engineering, multi-camera production systems, and transmission paths
  • Proven track record building show/event budgets and delivering against gross profit targets
  • Experience managing mobile unit scheduling, logistics, maintenance, and crewing
  • Established network of freelance production crew and vendors across North America
  • Strong client-facing skills with a history of building long-term customer relationships
  • Ability to remain calm, decisive, and solution-focused under live broadcast pressure
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel across the United States and Canada as production schedules require
