Job description

Job Title: Senior Structured Cabling Designer

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Lead Structured Cabling Designer to lead the design and specification of structured cabling systems for commercial and industrial projects. The ideal candidate will have strong, hands-on expertise in telecommunications infrastructure design. Practical experience in structured cabling applications is the most important qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design complete structured cabling systems, including copper, fiber optic, pathways, and associated low-voltage infrastructure (voice, data, security, wireless).
  • Produce detailed design/construction drawings using AutoCAD and Revit, including plans, sections, details, floor plans, and cable routing layouts.
  • Develop and modify Revit models to support structured cabling and low-voltage system coordination.
  • Develop detailed specifications, bill of materials (BOM), and installation guidelines.
  • Conduct site surveys, assessments, and technical reviews.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to installation teams and support staff.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, consultants, and project managers to deliver integrated, code-compliant solutions.
  • Ensure all designs meet or exceed industry standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI, NEC, etc.).
  • Perform wireless predictive design and site measurements using tools such as Ekahau.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide creative yet practical design solutions.
  • Troubleshoot cabling-related issues during design and implementation phases.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in structured cabling and ICT infrastructure.
  • Represent the company professionally with clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in structured cabling design and implementation.
  • BICSI RCDD certification is highly preferred.
  • Bachelor''s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field preferred, but equivalent practical experience is prioritized.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Revit (BIM modeling) is mandatory.
  • Proficiency with Ekahau or similar wireless design software (predictive modeling and site validation).
  • Strong understanding of TIA/EIA, BICSI, NEC, and other relevant standards and codes.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision and mentor junior staff.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily remote, with occasional travel for site visits, surveys, client meetings, and training.
