About the role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cabling Installer to join our team. As a Cabling Installer, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of data and telecommunications cabling systems. You will work closely with project managers, technicians, and clients to ensure the successful implementation of cabling infrastructure, adhering to industry standards and best practices. Your expertise in cabling installation will contribute to the seamless functioning of networks, enabling efficient communication and data transfer across various systems.
What you'll do
  • Install, terminate, and test copper and fiber-optic cables according to industry standards and project requirements.
  • Perform site surveys to assess cabling needs, evaluate existing infrastructure, and determine optimal installation routes.
  • Coordinate work progress with project managers and lead technician
  • Mount and install cable support structures, such as racks, cabinets, and trays, to provide a secure and organized cabling environment.
  • Label, tag, and document cabling systems for efficient troubleshooting, maintenance, and future upgrades.
  • Conduct thorough testing and certification of installed cables to verify compliance with performance specifications and troubleshoot any issues.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations while working with power tools, ladders, and other equipment to minimize accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with team members, including electricians, network engineers, and technicians, to coordinate cabling installations and resolve any integration challenges.
  • Maintain accurate records of installed cabling systems, including cable types, lengths, and connection points, for future reference and documentation.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices related to cabling systems and make recommendations for improvements or upgrades.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational or technical training in cabling installation is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a cabling installer or similar role, with a strong understanding of data and telecommunications cabling systems.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, such as TIA/EIA and ANSI/TIA, and proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and cabling diagrams.
  • Knowledge of various cable types, including Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic, and coaxial, and experience with cable termination techniques, connectors, and testing equipment.
  • Ability to use common hand and power tools, such as drills, crimping tools, cable testers, and fiber optic fusion splicers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot cabling issues effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team or independently when required.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces, crawl spaces, and at heights.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to different job sites as needed.
