Information Technology Compensation Plan
Salary Range: Mesquite ISD - Compensation Plans
Shift Type: Full-Time
Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Installation Supervisor




EMPLOYMENT BEGINS: As soon as possible


PRIMARY PURPOSE:

  • Installation, maintenance, and repair of all cabling and installation of new technology.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas driver's license.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Fiber Optic splicing
  • Knowledge of ANSI/TIA-568 standards
  • Tracing/Troubleshooting cabling issues
  • Knowledge of using a OTDR to test fiber
  • Installation of pre-configured network switches and routers
  • Security camera installation and repair
  • Physical installation of fire and security devices under the supervision of a licensed fire technician
  • Television installation

EXPERIENCE:

  • Installation of communication cabling in an enterprise environment
  • Installation of basic technology
  • Installation of fiber optic cabling

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Responsible for maintenance of the district wide fiber optic cabling system
  • Splicing/Termination of fiber optic cable
  • Properly route and secure cables ensuring a neat and professional installation
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and others
  • Assist other areas of the department with technology installs on projects that require manual labor such as: Televisions, Fire and Security equipment, network switches and routers
  • Perform other hardware installs assigned by other departments
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • None

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment
  • Strong ability to multi-task
  • Occasional prolonged and irregular hours
  • Communicating well in both oral and written form
  • Ability to read CAD drawings

Physical demands/environmental factors:

  • Reaching with hands and arms and frequently repeating the same hand, arm, or finger motion
  • Climbing, stooping, bending, and kneeling
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 60 lbs.
  • Seeing close work such as typed or handwritten material
  • Able to work in high places on lifts and ladders
  • Able to work in tight spaces such as crawl spaces
