The Role
As a Robotics Engineer, you will collaborate with the Robotics Engineering Manager, Technical Leaders, and cross-functional teams to support meeting the vision of the Controls group with proving insight and ideas on improvements (processes, standards, best practices, and tools) that boost the team's effectiveness and efficiency. This position reports to Robotics/R&D Manager.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop robot programs offline for automation tasks.
  • Validate reach and check for potential interferences.
  • Collaborate with Controls Engineer to configure I/O and handshakes.
  • Initialize robots and load programs with supporting files.
  • Establish PLC communications with assistance from Controls Engineer.
  • Update frames, adjust positions, and manually step through programs.
  • Transition robots to automatic mode and bring them up to speed.
  • Run at production rate on the company floor for customer acceptance.
  • Travel to customer facility for installation, debugging, and speed optimization.
  • Run at production rate on customer's floor for final acceptance.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Knowledge of PLC functions
  • Knowledge of Mechanical Design
  • Willing to learn cycle time analysis
  • Experience programming Fanuc, ABB, or Yaskawa robots
  • Willing to learn Robotic Simulation (Roboguide / Robot Studio / Motosim)
  • Exposure to CAD
  • Able to read electrical drawings
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Ability to interpret customer standards
  • Able to travel 30-40%

Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.
  • Occasionally lifts or move up to 25 pounds.
