Senior Manufacturing Simulation Engineer

Auburn Hills, MI

Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Simulation Engineer to support advanced manufacturing and production system optimization initiatives. This position will focus on developing, analyzing, and validating manufacturing simulation models to improve production efficiency, capacity, material flow, and overall system performance.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering environments and possess strong hands-on expertise with Siemens Tecnomatix Plant Simulation. Candidates with direct Plant Simulation experience will be prioritized over those with only general simulation backgrounds.

Compensation: $50.00 - $53.50/hour

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop discrete-event simulation models for manufacturing and production systems.
  • Utilize Siemens Tecnomatix Plant Simulation to evaluate manufacturing concepts and operational strategies.
  • Model production lines, work cells, equipment, labor resources, material flow, buffers, and logistics operations.
  • Analyze throughput, bottlenecks, utilization, cycle times, work-in-process (WIP), and system capacity.
  • Perform what-if analyses to evaluate alternative manufacturing scenarios and process improvements.
  • Assess facility layouts and production flow strategies to optimize operational performance.
  • Support manufacturing system design and capital equipment investment decisions through simulation analysis.
  • Create digital models representing both current-state and future-state manufacturing environments.
  • Validate simulation models using production data and real-world performance metrics.
  • Translate simulation outcomes into actionable recommendations for engineering and operations teams.
  • Present technical findings to stakeholders, engineering teams, and leadership.
  • Partner closely with manufacturing engineers, industrial engineers, and facility engineering teams.
  • Support line balancing, capacity planning, plant loading studies, and production ramp-up activities.
  • Develop technical reports, presentations, and business case documentation.
  • Contribute to advanced manufacturing and defense-related production programs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years of manufacturing, industrial engineering, or production systems experience.
  • Significant hands-on experience developing and utilizing manufacturing simulation models.
  • Strong background in discrete-event simulation.
  • Demonstrated experience translating real-world manufacturing operations into simulation environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis capabilities.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with Siemens Tecnomatix Plant Simulation (strongly preferred).
