Both roles require recruitment credentials and industry experience, but their work environments and employer relationships differ significantly.

How do freelance recruiters work?

Freelance recruiters work independently to find and connect qualified candidates with employers or staffing agencies. They typically source candidates through online platforms, social networks, and their own networks, then present suitable candidates for job openings. They often operate on a project basis, earning commissions or fees for successful placements, and may use tools like applicant tracking systems to manage their workflow.

How do you become a freelance recruiter?

To become a freelance recruiter, you should gain experience in recruiting or human resources, develop strong communication and networking skills, and build a professional network. Many freelancers establish their business by creating a website, setting competitive rates, and using online platforms to find clients. Certification is not mandatory but can enhance credibility and job prospects.
