What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Freelance Pool Monitor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Freelance Pool Monitor, you need strong observational skills, basic knowledge of pool safety standards, and often a lifeguard certification with CPR and first aid training. Familiarity with pool maintenance tools, safety equipment, and incident reporting systems is essential. Excellent communication, reliability, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are standout soft skills. These abilities ensure a safe pool environment, prevent accidents, and foster trust among pool users and facility managers.

What are some common challenges freelance pool monitors face, and how can they be addressed?

Freelance pool monitors often work independently, which can make handling emergencies and enforcing pool rules challenging, especially during busy periods or with uncooperative patrons. To address these challenges, it's important to develop strong communication skills, remain vigilant at all times, and ensure familiarity with emergency protocols. Building rapport with pool users and maintaining a visible, approachable presence can also help prevent issues before they escalate. Additionally, freelance monitors should stay updated on local safety regulations and consider networking with other monitors for support and best practices.

What are freelance pool monitors?

Freelance pool monitors are individuals who are hired on a temporary or contract basis to supervise swimming pools, ensuring the safety of swimmers and enforcing pool rules. They may work for private clients, community pools, or event organizers instead of being employed full-time by a single facility. Their responsibilities typically include monitoring swimmer activity, responding to emergencies, maintaining cleanliness, and sometimes checking chemical levels. Freelance pool monitors set their own schedules and may work at multiple locations. This job requires strong swimming skills, knowledge of lifesaving techniques, and usually a lifeguard certification.

Centric Brands is a leading lifestyle brand collective that designs, sources, markets and sells high quality products in multiple segments, including women's, men's and kid's apparel, accessories, entertainment and beauty. Centric Brands is focused on our customers and our brands that will drive the company's future growth. We are defined by innovation as we seize new opportunities and thrive in an environment informed by creativity and thinking that is both analytical and outside the box. Buying Assistant

From developing the product strategies to growing our brands, merchandising careers at Centric Brands offer exciting possibilities to grow a career with one of world's foremost lifestyle brands collectives. From helping develop the merchandise mix to ensuring stores and online site have the right products in the right quantities to creating the long-term brand strategy, a career in merchandising and planning offers you a chance to make a positive impact on our success - and yours.

The Buying Assistant will work closely with the Associate Buyer to build the Seasonal & Core assortment buys and optimize the sell-in and sell-thrus to achieve/exceed the overall financial & margin budgets of the division.  This position will also interact with Sales, Design & Production across major Boys Sportswear brands including Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica, Calvin Klein, Lucky Brands, GAP, Faherty, Guess & Timberland.

Specific Responsibilities Would Include
  • Create seasonal development calendars outlining key milestones across Spring, Summer, Fall, Holiday, and Transitional seasons, covering all stages of the product lifecycle from SKU planning through DC delivery. Distribute calendars cross-functionally and manage key deadlines via Outlook invites.
  • Partner with Sales to develop classification-level SKU plans aligned with financial sales and margin targets. Ensure assortments reflect business strategy, historical data, and seasonal trends, and recap alignment with Design to prevent over-development.
  • Participate in CAD reviews and feasibility meetings; provide sell price and MSRP guidance to support costing. Maintain a centralized pricing reference file for Sales.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Sales and Design leads to align customer-specific assortment strategies, including pricing and channel distribution (full-price, off-price, specialty) to meet budget objectives.
  • Build seasonal Buy Plan files capturing all style, material, pricing, tier ranking, prepack, shipping, and quantity details. Create corresponding order forms for Sales use during market.
  • Collect and input upfront orders prior to buy meetings; during meetings, partner with Sales leadership to input ATS and speculative buys. Reconcile final buy metrics including sales dollars, units, gross margin, and net margin. Transfer finalized data into QuickBase for Production approval.
  • Manage core non-replenishment inventory across brands (Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica, Calvin Klein, Lucky Brand, Guess, Timberland) to support year-round inventory needs.
  • Ensure all buy data is accurately uploaded into SAP, including materials, units, categories, and silhouettes. Coordinate with Sales on bulk order placement and monitor order pool completion.
  • Partner with freelance copywriter to deliver CADs and updated buy templates following buy finalization.
  • Own the Sample & Licensing Tracker to manage sample needs and imaging requirements by account. Share updates with Production and track sample status through completion.
  • Coordinate with Sales to prepare samples for market appointments and showroom presentations. Maintain organized sample storage for easy access and accurate tracking.
Our Best Fit Candidate Would Have
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data, margins, and SKU performance to support assortment and buying decisions
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail; able to manage calendars, buy plans, and multiple deadlines across cross-functional teams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis, and reporting) to manage buy files, SKU plans, and inventory tracking
  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Design, and Production teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment while maintaining accuracy and meeting key milestones

In return, we provide an industry-competitive salary, along with a comprehensive benefits plan (medical, dental, vision) that includes a matching 401(k), Summer Fridays, generous PTO, merchandise discounts, excellent career development opportunities, and a work environment that reflects our industry leadership. Our social impact program, Centric Cares, focuses on volunteerism to make a difference in communities we live and work in and our D&I committee is shaping the future of diversity, equity and inclusion at Centric Brands though workshops, resources and inspiring conversation.

Salary Range: $60,000 - 65,000

At Centric Brands, we believe our people are our greatest asset, and we seek to structure competitive compensation offers to ensure that we are able to attract and retain the best talent. Our job postings include an annual base salary range at the time of employment. The stated base salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on several factors, including the selected candidate's educational and professional experience, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the selection process. Base salary is a part of a total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, annual bonus and other Centric Brands sponsored benefit programs.

Be part of our growing community by getting involved with groups, teams and initiatives like Be Green, Be Giving, and Be Celebrated.
