Job Description Payroll Clerk โ€“ 51259 A leading company in the media and entertainment industry is seeking a detail-oriented Freelance Payroll Clerk to support payroll operations in a fastโ€paced production environment. This role is ideal for a payroll professional with strong administrative accuracy, experience handling labor allocations, and the ability to navigate payroll and unionโ€related processes effectively. The position follows a hybrid schedule with onsite work Monday through Thursday and remote work on Friday. Assignment Details Employment Type: Freelance Location: Universal City, California Schedule: Hybrid โ€” Onsite Monday through Thursday, Remote Friday Duration: 7/13 โ€“ 12/31/26 Position Overview The Payroll Clerk will play an essential role in managing payrollโ€related activities tied to variable labor within the Sound Department. This individual will help ensure labor hours, payroll records, onboarding workflows, and unionโ€related processes are handled accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and applicable agreements. The role also requires close collaboration with managers, Payroll, HR, and production teams to resolve issues and maintain operational continuity. Key Responsibilities Manage allocation of Sound Department variable labor with accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. Collect, review, validate, and actualize operator logs and work orders. Enter and maintain labor hours in Timekeeper. Allocate labor hours to the appropriate charge numbers and projects. Monitor and respond to Timekeeper Bot reports to identify and resolve discrepancies. Serve as a resource to managers on payroll policies, union rules, and related implications. Support matters involving multiple union agreements. Submit and manage HR workflows for daily hire onboarding and terminations. Track, audit, and process talent guarantees according to payroll and contractual requirements. Track and process union vacation and holiday pay in compliance with applicable agreements and company policy. Set up and maintain resources and projects within ScheduALL to align with production schedules and payroll needs. Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies in partnership with Payroll, HR, and department leadership. Provide backup support as an AP requisitioner, including processing invoices and creating purchase orders. Prepare ad hoc reports and assist with special projects related to payroll, labor analysis, and operational improvements. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. At least 3 years of payroll experience, preferably in a production or postโ€production environment. Working knowledge of Timekeeper, ScheduALL, DocuSign, and myHR. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Strong ability to manage payroll data accurately and efficiently. Preferred Qualifications Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain payroll and unionโ€related matters clearly. Collaborative interpersonal skills and a teamโ€oriented approach. Excellent organizational and time management abilities. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. Comfort interacting with individuals across a wide range of personalities and management levels. Postโ€production industry knowledge strongly preferred. Union payroll knowledge strongly preferred.
