The New York Post is seeking a part-time Editorial Page Assistant (24 hours per week; 3 shifts per week) to join our team. In collaboration with another part-time team member, this individual will be responsible for selecting, editing and laying out letters for The Post's daily Letters to the Editor section as well as handling other administrative tasks.
Responsibilities include:
  • Managing the letters inbox, identifying a topic or topics for the daily letters section, editing and fact-checking submissions, laying out copy, choosing art, writing headlines and publishing the letters section online.
  • Onboarding new freelance opinion writers, communicating with human resources and the opinion editor to get new writers approved and submitting a weekly freelance payroll
  • Scheduling editorial board meetings, reserving conference rooms, sending out calendar invitations and coordinating visits with building security
  • Assisting with social media posts

The ideal candidate will have:
  • A minimum of 1-2 years' experience in politically-centered opinion writing or related work
  • Related research-reporting skills
  • Self-motivated and assertive with good use of tact and judgment
  • Ability to work independently but also a great collaborator and a team player
  • Proven track record to manage multiple tasks and ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and follow ups
  • An effective manager of social media accounts
  • Have a working knowledge of SEO and social-media best practices
  • Proficiency in preparing WordPress files for online posting

Base Pay Range: $20 - $25/hr
