Job description

The University of Pittsburgh School of Law (Pitt Law) seeks to hire part-time Adjunct Faculty to serve as course instructors in the online Master of Studies in Law (MSL) degree program beginning in summer 2026 and academic year 2026-2027.
Instructors are sought for the following courses:
  • American Legal System
  • Contracts
  • Torts
  • Property
  • Constitutional Law
  • Criminal Law
  • Legislation and Regulation

Responsibilities: Course instructors support and guide student progress, provide detailed and substantive feedback on student submissions, grade assignments, tests, and exams. Instructors use existing online materials, tools, and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications for Course Instructors:
  • Licensed attorney with a minimum of 5 years of experience practicing or teaching law.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the subject matter of the course for which they are engaged.
  • Experience using Canvas or a similar learning management system and skill at online interaction.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Zoom.

Applications: Applicants for a course instructor position MUST submit a CV and a cover letter. Please identify in your cover letter the specific course or courses you seek to instruct and document your suitability to teach each course for which you are applying.
Salary: $1,000 per week of course instruction for an 8-week course, with a minimum of $5,333 for a 5-week course. he School of Law reserves the right not to offer the course in that term if fewer than 8 students are enrolled. In such a case, you retain your faculty position, but no compensation will be paid.
