Position: Tier 3 Network Engineer

InterImage is actively seeking an energetic, curious, and skilled engineer to join our team in Northern VA!  We are looking for a Tier 3 Network Engineer to support a government customer’s global enterprise network. Big picture, the Tier 3 engineering team provides implementation support to the network architecture team as well as troubleshooting expertise to a 24/7 Network Operations Center (NOC).  This position is essential to the customer’s mission and is viewed as a technical leader.
Responsibilities:
•    Provide Tier 3 support to the Network Operations Center (NOC)
•    Supports an organization’s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), customer networks and other data communications systems
•    Monitor the network to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network stability
•    Maintain network hardware and software
•    Proactively identify risks in the network and develop a strategy to mitigate those risks.
•    Provide technical expertise to network architects and site technicians
•    Supports numerous business requirements for telecommunications (e.g., LAN, MAN, WAN, Voice and Video)
•    Configure, and test hardware, networking software and operating system software
•    Prepare technical proposals for presentation to the NRO’s engineering review boards for adding new technologies to the network
•    Perform a full range of upgrades in accordance with existing network architecture
•    Utilize complex network analysis tools to identify and correct problems in the network
•    Prepare troubleshooting procedures for restoring the network to optimal performance levels
•    Provide fault management for the network and support performance management functions
•    Execute reporting functions and data input associated with network management
•    Monitor security posture of the network, report suspected violations to designated authority
•    Analyze network characteristics (e.g., traffic, connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes, and throughput); recommend procurement, removals, and modifications to network components
•    Optimize network topologies and site configurations. Plan installations, transitions, and cutovers of network components and capabilities
Here’s What You’ll Need:
•    Hands on troubleshooting and fault isolation experience of IT business systems.
•    Active TS/SCI w Polygraph is required
•    16 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education. This equates to a Doctorate and 8 years of experience OR a Master’s and 10 years, a Bachelor’s and 12 years, an Associates and 14 years or HS and 16 years
•    Must have a strong understanding of the OSI model and configuration of routing protocols such as OSPF, MPLS, BGP, LDP
•    Must have a strong understanding of layer 2 technologies
•    Familiarity with cloud technologies
•    Must have or obtain DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 a (Security CE)
