Job Description
Catalyx is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Automation Engineer to support equipment and automation compliance activities within a regulated (GMP) pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for change control documentation, system testing, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with internal procedures and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and update equipment and automation change control documentation in accordance with internal procedures.
• Document all changes to automation and equipment software and documentation accurately.
• Develop and execute testing protocols for automation and equipment changes.
• Ensure compliance with system specifications by executing, documenting, and reporting on all testing activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions and testing discrepancies.
• Maintain documentation of automation and operational maintenance activities.
• Read and write ladder logic for automation systems; install and configure PLC and HMI applications from key vendors such as:
• Allen-Bradley / Rockwell (RSLogix, FactoryTalk ME/SE, RSLinx)
• Siemens (TIA Portal, WinCC OA)
• Inductive Automation (Ignition)
• Program using Python or similar scripting languages.
• Configure OPC servers (e.g., Kepware) for system interconnectivity.
• Manage network configurations including TCP/IP addressing and port assignments.
• Assist with Windows server setup and maintenance activities.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in automation engineering within a regulated pharmaceutical or biotech environment.
• Strong working knowledge of PLC, HMI, SCADA systems, and related automation tools.
• Familiarity with GMP, GAMP5, and SDLC principles.
• Proficient in Python and industrial communication protocols (e.g., OPC).
• Understanding of networking fundamentals and Windows server administration.
• Excellent problem-solving and documentation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
