Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Project Engineer (internally titled: Senior Hardware Integration Engineer), you will play a key role in delivering complex logistics and automation solutions by bridging engineering studies, supplier execution, and project delivery.

  • Act as the main interface with clients to advise on the hardware design of Exotec’s solutions
  • Coordinate a hardware project team, including task allocation, follow‑up, and reporting to the project management team
  • Lead hardware system technical decisions, ensuring compliance with technical, budgetary, and scheduling constraints
  • Approve specifications for all hardware design and study activities, whether handled internally or outsourced
  • Manage external suppliers (including Tier‑1 equipment providers) from the study phase through commissioning on projects involving complex systems
  • Ensure compatibility and coherence between all integrated equipment and the client’s system architecture
  • Facilitate the handover of designed equipment to project operations and deployment teams
  • Provide technical support to project operations teams, on‑site or remotely, as required
  • Support, mentor, and share expertise with Hardware Integration Engineers within the team, particularly on technical rigor and supplier interactions
  • Champion and ensure adherence to Exotec’s culture, values, processes, and best practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, mechatronics, automation, or a related field
  • ~5 years of experience working on hardware integration projects, ideally within intralogistics, warehousing, or automated material‑handling projects
  • Strong hands‑on CAD experience in a professional setting, including producing and reviewing layouts and installation drawings (school‑only CAD experience is not sufficient)
  • Demonstrated experience leading hardware design studies and making system‑level technical decisions
  • Proven ability to manage external suppliers or partners, ideally Tier‑1 equipment providers, from study phase through commissioning
  • Comfortable acting as a technical interface with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to balance technical, budgetary, and scheduling constraints in decision‑making
  • Strong communication and synthesis skills, with the ability to work autonomously within project teams

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package, inclusive of salary & annual bonus potential
  • Comprehensive medical, dental and vision coverage
  • Generous vacation and time off policy
  • 401(k) with company match up to 5%
  • Continuous opportunities for training and development within an international organization
  • Beautiful, newly renovated office space in midtown Atlanta
