Description & Requirements
Bloomberg is looking for a freelance copy editor to join our New York office. This is a contract role - 20 hours a week, across five days - supporting both our web and print editions.
As part of the copy desk, you'll ensure every story is sharp, accurate and engaging. You'll edit for grammar, clarity, consistency and style, while maintaining the distinct voice of each product across platforms, including Businessweek, Markets magazine, Weekend and others. You'll also proofread and fact-check. Besides versatility, collaboration is key: You'll work closely in a fast-paced, global newsroom with fellow copy editors as well as editors, art directors and web producers to meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines.
You'll need to have:
  • At least five years of professional copyediting experience
  • Strong line editing, copyediting and proofreading skills
  • Comfort juggling multiple stories under tight deadlines
  • Familiarity with business journalism
  • A deep commitment to accuracy and clarity
  • Proficiency in Google Docs and CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress)
  • Familiarity with Adobe InCopy and the K4 publishing system a plus

Salary Range = 45 - 50 USD Hourly
The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
