Job description

We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented Freelance English Transcribers & Annotators to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a vital part in transforming audio and video content into accurate, well-formatted written transcripts while providing valuable annotations to enhance content clarity and usability. This flexible position offers the opportunity to work remotely, utilizing your exceptional language skills and technical proficiency to contribute to diverse projects across various industries. Duties

  • Transcribe audio and video recordings into clear, accurate text following specified transcription formatting standards
  • Edit and proofread transcripts to ensure grammatical correctness, consistency, and adherence to style guides such as the Chicago Manual of Style
  • Annotate transcripts with relevant metadata, timestamps, speaker labels, and contextual notes to facilitate content understanding
  • Utilize transcription software and word processing tools efficiently to produce high-quality outputs
  • Review and refine transcriptions for accuracy, clarity, and completeness through meticulous proofreading and editing
  • Apply knowledge of legal terminology or specialized vocabulary when working on industry-specific content
  • Collaborate with project managers or clients to meet deadlines and clarify project requirements

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in transcription, content editing, or related roles with a strong portfolio of completed projects
  • Excellent writing skills with a keen eye for detail, grammar, punctuation, and style consistency
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and transcription software platforms
  • Strong typing skills with high accuracy and speed; familiarity with audio transcription processes
  • Knowledge of transcription formatting standards and style guides such as the Chicago Manual of Style
  • Ability to understand and accurately transcribe diverse accents, speech patterns, and specialized terminology including legal or technical language
  • Foreign language proficiency is a plus for projects involving multilingual content
  • Exceptional proofreading skills combined with an ability to identify errors swiftly and precisely
