Freelance Development information

What is freelance development?

Freelance development refers to software development work done independently by individuals, rather than as a full-time employee of a company. Freelance developers are typically self-employed and take on projects for various clients, working remotely or on-site as needed. They may specialize in web development, mobile app development, or other programming areas, and manage their own schedules, contracts, and payments. This career path offers flexibility and variety, but also requires strong self-management and business skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a freelance developer?

To thrive as a Freelance Developer, you need strong programming skills, a solid grasp of software development principles, and a portfolio showcasing relevant experience, often supported by a degree or certifications in computer science or related fields. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, cloud platforms, and popular frameworks or languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python, React) is typically required. Excellent communication, time management, and self-motivation are essential soft skills for managing client relationships and meeting deadlines independently. These abilities are crucial for delivering high-quality work, maintaining client satisfaction, and sustaining a successful freelance career.

What are some common challenges freelance developers face when managing multiple projects, and how can they be addressed?

Freelance developers often juggle several projects at once, which can lead to challenges like managing deadlines, communicating with different clients, and maintaining consistent code quality. To address these issues, effective time management tools, clear communication practices, and robust project tracking systems are essential. Regular check-ins with clients, setting realistic expectations, and using version control platforms can help ensure smooth project delivery and client satisfaction.

Job description

Welcome to The Freelance Firm!
We are a national network of experienced, high-level, freelance attorneys and paralegals who provide on-demand support for both short-term and long-term legal projects for our client law firms.
Due to increased demand, we are now interviewing for a qualified, highly experienced, and confident Oklahoma Family Law Litigation Attorney to assist a busy and growing Tulsa family law practice.
This is a contract-based opportunity with a significant emphasis on in-person hearings and court appearances in the Tulsa area. The firm currently has substantial demand for court coverage, and appearances could be needed multiple times per week.
Attorney Responsibilities:
  • Provide in-person court and hearing coverage in the Tulsa area
  • Appear on behalf of the firm's clients in contested family law proceedings
  • Review case files and prepare thoroughly for assigned hearings and appearances
  • Handle hearings confidently and independently while representing the firm's clients and reputation professionally
  • Communicate with the firm's attorneys and legal team before and after appearances regarding case strategy, developments, and outcomes
  • Assist with litigation strategy and substantive family law matters as needed
  • Work collaboratively with the firm's existing legal team to ensure continuity of representation and a high-quality client experience
Attorney Requirements:
  • Must be actively licensed and in good standing with the Oklahoma Bar
  • Must be based in or near Tulsa, Oklahoma and available for regular in-person court appearances
  • Significant, hands-on experience handling Oklahoma family law litigation
  • Extensive courtroom and contested-hearing experience
  • Must be highly confident and comfortable handling the contentious nature of family law hearings and appearances
  • Ability to independently step into active matters, quickly understand the relevant issues, and effectively advocate for the client
  • Strong knowledge of Oklahoma family law, court procedures, rules, and local practices
  • Excellent oral advocacy and negotiation skills
  • Strong litigation judgment and ability to remain composed under pressure
  • Professional, polished, and respectful demeanor
  • Strong client-service mentality and ability to represent the firm appropriately with its high-end clientele
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate closely with the firm's existing attorneys and staff
  • Highly responsive, reliable, and proactive
  • Collaborative team player who can integrate into the firm's established systems and standards rather than operate as an outside or disconnected resource
  • Experience with MyCase is highly preferred

The firm has a substantial and immediate need for additional attorney capacity. Its existing court attorney is currently handling as many as two court appearances per day, and additional attorney support would allow the firm to better distribute its existing workload and expand its capacity for new clients.
Our Attorney pay rate starts at $80/hour.
We welcome you to join our established network of legal professionals!
Please respond with your resume and a summary of your Oklahoma family law litigation and courtroom experience, including your availability for in-person appearances in the Tulsa area.
We will contact qualified candidates for a 30-minute online meeting to answer all of your questions about The Freelance Firm and this opportunity.
Resume submissions will be kept in strict confidence.
