Job description

Structural Packaging Designer

Why You'll Love This Role:

  • Own projects from concept through production rather than being limited to one stage of the design process.
  • See your work come to life as finished packaging and retail displays used by recognizable consumer brands.
  • Design something different every dayโ€”this is a highly customized environment where creativity and problem-solving are valued.
  • Be the driving force behind innovative packaging and merchandising solutions that influence purchasing decisions at the retail level.
  • Work alongside engineering, manufacturing, sales, and customers, giving you exposure to the entire product development lifecycle.
  • Enjoy a role that blends creativity, engineering, customer interaction, and manufacturing into one highly visible position.
  • Have the opportunity to influence design decisions rather than simply executing someone else's ideas.
  • Join a stable, growing organization that continues to invest in innovation, cutting-edge design, and long-term employee development.
  • Salary: 85-110k, potential flexibility open for the right experience!

About the Opportunity:

We're partnering with a well-established manufacturer specializing in custom corrugated packaging, retail displays, and point-of-purchase merchandising solutions for customers across a wide range of consumer and industrial markets. Their team partners closely with customers from concept through production to develop packaging that protects products, strengthens branding, and enhances the in-store shopping experience.

We're seeking a Structural Packaging Designer who thrives on solving design challenges, creating innovative packaging, and developing eye-catching retail displays that make products stand out.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Design innovative structural packaging, retail displays, POP/POS displays, and merchandising solutions.
  • Develop creative packaging concepts while considering manufacturability, structural integrity, material utilization, and cost.
  • Create production-ready CAD drawings, dielines, prototypes, and engineering documentation using ArtiosCAD and related design software.
  • Partner directly with customers to understand project goals and translate concepts into functional packaging solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure designs transition efficiently into production.
  • Build prototypes, evaluate designs, and implement improvements throughout the development process.
  • Recommend innovative solutions that improve product presentation, manufacturing efficiency, and overall functionality.
  • Manage multiple custom projects while maintaining exceptional quality and meeting customer deadlines.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience designing structural packaging, retail displays, corrugated packaging, folding cartons, or POP/POS displays.
  • Strong understanding of packaging materials, structural design, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with ArtiosCAD, Esko, CAD software, or similar structural packaging design tools.
  • Adobe Illustrator experience is a plus.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to balance aesthetics, functionality, and manufacturability.
  • Comfortable collaborating with customers and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

You should be proficient in:

  • CAD Software
  • Graphic Design Technology
  • Packaging Experience
