Description:

OVERVIEW

Cadrex is searching for a CNC Machinist I (EDM) who will be responsible for operating and maintaining CNC (Computer Numerical Control) equipment, including Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) machines such as wire and/or sinker EDM. This role involves setting up machines, loading materials, monitoring machining processes, and performing basic maintenance tasks to produce precision components according to engineering and product specifications. Under the guidance of experienced machinists, you will operate equipment to manufacture small- to medium-sized components, either as finished products or as part of larger assemblies, and play a key role in supporting our manufacturing operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operates EDM machines according to established programs and setup instructions
  • Set up CNC machines by loading the appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to ensure accurate machining
  • Operate CNC machines to produce components, monitoring machine performance and adjusting as necessary
  • Conduct routine quality inspections using precision measurement instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.) to verify part dimensions
  • Make tool changes, offsets, and program adjustments as directed by senior CNC operators or programmers
  • Perform basic machine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubrication, and tool changes
  • Identify and report any machine malfunctions or quality issues to the supervisor
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Assist in the documentation of production records, including part counts and machine logs
  • Collaborate with senior CNC operators and machinists to enhance machining skills and knowledge
  • Operates CNC machines to produce production parts and assemblies
Requirements:

  • Basic understanding of EDM principles, including wire EDM processes
  • Mechanical aptitude and a strong interest in precision machining and EDM technology
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Produce a high-quality product according to required specifications on a consistent basis
  • Produce the required quantity of product according to required output specifications
  • Understand the machine operation process and the movement of completed components
  • Use computers as required
  • Use measuring tools as required
  • Read and understand Blueprints
  • Complete necessary paperwork accurately and timely
  • Operate all hand tools, machines and equipment successfully as required and with minimal supervision
  • Work as a productive team member who contributes to the organizations’ success.
  • Handle fast-paced work
  • Demonstrate the ability to take initiative to see tasks that are needed and complete them without being instructed to do so by supervisors or lead personnel
  • Demonstrate dependability with good attendance

EDUCATION

  • Highschool Diploma
  • 2-year technical certification or equivalent experience preferred
