Job description

This is a three-month freelance booking with a global luxury retail design and production agency.

Most retail agencies design a concept and hand it over a wall to a fabricator theyโ€™ll never meet. This one doesnโ€™t. It designs, produces and installs under one roof. For a Project Director, that changes the job entirely: the people building your projects are colleagues on a physical floor you can walk onto, not subcontractors on the end of a phone.

The Role

You own delivery end-to-end on the studioโ€™s most complex New York work โ€“ high-profile windows, pop-ups, experiential builds and visual merchandising for luxury brands, from brief through production, delivery and install.

Youโ€™ll run several concurrent projects at once, translating ambitious creative concepts into production plans, own timelines, budgets, scope and delivery strategy, and coordinate designers, CAD teams, fabricators, production managers, suppliers and installers. Youโ€™ll manage procurement and external partners, surface technical, commercial and logistical risk early, and steer projects through the transition from design into fabrication and install, including approvals, variations and logistics across NYC and, potentially, other US locations. When a project gets complicated, youโ€™re the person the team turns to.

The Package
  • $800 - $900 per day
  • Hybrid working
  • Three-month contract
  • Install-heavy work; some travel across US locations expected
The Person

Youโ€™re a senior delivery specialist from retail design, experiential production, VM, shopfitting, set production or bespoke fabrication โ€“ a Project Director, Senior Project Manager or Head of Production comfortable running several complex builds at once.

Youโ€™re bilingual across two worlds: you can challenge a fabricatorโ€™s technical call on the floor, then reframe the same issue in commercial terms on a client call. Youโ€™ve owned timelines, budgets, procurement, and install logistics before.
