Job description

Do you measure your work by how it looks when the light hits it just right?

Can you feel the difference between a panel that's done and a panel that's almost done?

Does sloppy work bother you even when no one else notices it?

Are you the kind of person who gets it right the first time because doing it twice is a waste of your skill?

If this sounds like you, then we need to talk...

Frazer, a leading builder of emergency medical vehicles, is seeking a Commercial Vehicle Paint Buffer to join our Paint team in Sugar Land, TX. This role is responsible for bringing every painted vehicle to a high-gloss, defect-free finish - removing runs and sags, progressing through wet-sand grits, compounding, and glazing. The work you do is the last appearance step before final detail, and it shows on every vehicle Frazer delivers to a first responder.

What Does a Week in the Life of the Commercial Vehicle Paint Buffer Look Like?

  • Masks trims and inserts at the start of each unit, protecting edges before picking up the buffer and working through the compound sequence.

  • Wet-sands through the grit progression - 1500, 3000, 5000 - refining each stage before moving on, keeping the sequence tight and the surface clean.

  • Compounds in 44 sections with consistent pressure and speed, running the panel until gloss returns and the scratch pattern is gone.

  • Applies glaze for final depth and swirl removal, inspecting the finished surface under color-match lighting before releasing the unit. (Level III+)

  • Inspects and verifies the quality of work across the work center, flags panels that don't meet standard, and communicates findings to the supervisor. (Level III+)

  • Stages tools and materials for the next unit, keeps compounding equipment clean, and tracks consumable use to minimize waste.

  • Coaches Level I-III buffers on technique, finish standards, and PPE compliance - setting the bar for the whole work center. (Level IV)

Required Education and Experience:

Level I

  • No prior buffing experience required; willingness to learn and basic mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to read job tickets and use shop systems after training.

Level II

  • 1-3 years of buffing or finishing experience; self-sufficient on the compound progression.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform run/sag removal and wet-sand through the full grit sequence.

Level III

  • 3-5 years of experience including glaze finishing and quality verification.

  • Ability to inspect and verify others' work to Frazer finish standards.

Level IV

  • 5+ years of buffing experience; mastery across the buff cluster with demonstrated ability to train others.

  • Serves as the appearance-quality authority for the work center.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Prior surface prep or paint experience (strong foundation for buffing).

  • Experience in automotive / collision refinishing, RV, or specialty-vehicle manufacturing.

  • Respirator fit-test certification and OSHA general-industry awareness.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Skills (to Pay the Bills)

Here's a list of a few competencies that the Commercial Vehicle Paint Buffer at Frazer should have...

  • You're detail-obsessed in the best way - you can see what's wrong with a surface before anyone else does, and you don't let it go until it's right.

  • You know your tools - you understand how pad selection, compound type, and machine speed affect the finish and you make those adjustments automatically.

  • You're consistent - your first panel of the day looks the same as your last, because you don't cut corners when you're tired or pressed for time.

  • You take ownership - if a unit has your name on it, it's going to be right before it leaves your hands, no shortcuts, no exceptions.

  • You're a team player with a craftsperson's mindset - you coordinate handoffs cleanly, communicate issues clearly, and show up every shift ready to produce.

Why Frazer?

Frazer is a fast-growing company pushing the boundaries of what's possible in mobile healthcare. You'll join a team of driven, diverse people who take their work seriously and each other personally. We rely on our core values, invest in our people's growth, and give everyone room to unleash their potential.

What's in it for you:

  • A weekly paycheck - you get paid every Friday.

  • Company shutdown from Christmas through New Year's, plus 10 paid holidays and PTO that starts accruing from day one.

  • On-site micromarket, flexible schedules, and a real work-life balance.

  • Free financial wellness classes plus professional development and skills training.

  • 401k with company match, health, dental, and disability coverage.

  • A culture built on honesty, accountability, and continuous improvement - not politics.

Level I: $18.00-$21.00/hr

Level II: $22.00-$25.00/hr
