The Senior Manager, Software Engineering, leads platform-level execution of software and Commerce systems, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and roadmap milestones. This role oversees shared infrastructure, tooling, and frameworks to support scalable, secure development while driving full lifecycle management across multiple teams. The position champions DevOps practices, cloud cost optimization, and technical excellence to deliver high-availability systems. Collaborating with cross-functional partners, the role guides architectural decisions, mentors engineering talent, and manages complex initiatives to achieve business objectives with a focus on continuous improvement and operational success.
About the team:
The Commerce team develops and maintains multiple back-end codebases supporting digital goods purchases from Vizio OS TVs; including Subscription Video on Demand subscriptions, movie rentals, and purchases. This platform integrates various third-party integrations. The team focuses on scalable, reliable solutions that align with strategic priorities and roadmap milestones. Collaborating across functions, they drive continuous improvement through effective project and stakeholder management, leveraging expertise in cloud-native architecture, DevOps, and software product management to ensure high-quality delivery and operational excellence.
What you'll do:
Lead platform-level execution of software and commerce systems, ensuring alignment with domain priorities and product roadmap milestones.
Oversee shared infrastructure, tooling, and frameworks to support scalable, secure, and reusable development.
Drive full software development lifecycle across multiple teams, promoting DevOps practices and continuous improvement.
Manage cloud cost optimization and enhance automation, telemetry, and tooling to reduce operational friction.
Mentor engineers and managers, guiding architectural decisions and fostering technical excellence.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define priorities, track milestones, and ensure timely delivery of complex initiatives.
Champion system integration and maintain high availability, scalability, and incident preparedness.
What you'll bring:
Proven leadership in platform engineering, overseeing system development aligned with strategic roadmaps and milestones.
Experience with digital goods e-commerce order processing; credit card payment processing, tax, and fraud.
Expertise in managing full software development lifecycle, including DevOps architecture, CI/CD, observability, and cloud-native solutions.
Experience with Azure cloud development; micro service development, containerized workloads, and cloud database.
Strong project and stakeholder management skills to drive complex technical initiatives to timely, high-quality delivery.
Experience in cloud financial management and cost optimization strategies.
Ability to mentor and develop engineering teams, fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement.
Proficient in system design, debugging, and integration to ensure scalable, maintainable, and secure platforms.
