Compensation: $40.00 - $75.00 per hr, based on skills and experience.

Position Summary

The Physical Therapy Department in the College of Health Professions welcome applications for a part-time adjunct instructor.

While this position is not eligible for our regular employee benefits, all RFU employees are eligible to accrue personal leave in accordance with IL law. All RFU employees are also eligible to make unmatched contributions to voluntary supplemental pre-tax and post-tax retirement plans.

Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science (RFU) is a graduate health sciences university committed to serving the population through the interprofessional education of health and biomedical professionals and the discovery of knowledge dedicated to improving wellness. The university embodies the spirit of inquiry and excellence modeled by its namesake Dr. Rosalind Franklin, whose Photo 51 was crucial to solving the structure of DNA.

Today, the university’s 6 colleges continue Dr Franklin’s legacy through rigorous academics, pioneering research, and innovative community service. Our unique interprofessional education model allows students to learn from and with each other in a variety of settings, including our simulation labs, the student-led Interprofessional Community Clinic, and through partnerships with area hospitals and clinics. RFU is a national leader in interprofessional research and practices, and is nationally recognized for its research in areas including neuroscience, brain-related diseases, inherited disorders, proteomics, cancer cell biology and immunology, and gait and balance.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Promote the mission and goals of Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, the College of Health Professions, and the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program
  • Teaching in areas associated with the individual’s expertise
  • Participate in a team-teaching environment, collaborating with other faculty members to develop and deliver course instruction and student assessment activities.
  • Contribute to a welcoming and inclusive learning environment that respects and values the diversity of students.
  • Participate in creation, implementation, and evaluation of DPT program curriculum
  • Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Demonstrate of excellence in communication, teamwork, organization and critical thinking are essential components for success in this position

• Understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion concepts and their application in the classroom and clinical settings.

• Experience adapting instructional materials and teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, and backgrounds.


Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in physical therapist education or other higher education with knowledge of effective classroom teaching strategies

• Expertise or teaching experience in neurological rehabilitation and/or physiology is especially desirable

• American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties board certification or other advanced certification in areas associated with the individual’s expertise.
