Job description

Interlake Mecalux is hiring a Continuous Improvement Logistics Engineer to join our Sumter, SC facility. The role will be responsible for reviewing production orders to ensure timely shipments and organizing the logistics and frame assembly warehousing activities in Sumter, SC.


Responsibilities:


  • Optimize the assembly department planning and methodologies leading to reduced downtime and increased productivity.
  • Ensure daily shipping target assigned to the Sumter plant is met and drive the continuous improvement process to improve on-time shipments.
  • Communicate with Planning, Sales, Customer Service and Purchasing departments to coordinate shipping and frame assembly activities. Compile and reports on shipping and frame assembly activities detailing order status, distribution plans and service/shipping cost aspects.
  • Review production orders to estimate maximum lead times and issue work assignments. Issue shipping instructions and provide routing information to ensure delivery times and locations are coordinated.
  • Play an active role in the annual inventory by participating in all planning meetings, completing periodic cycle counts, assigning work to general laborers and leads with respect to the physical inventory, investigating and explaining discrepancies to corporate office and headquarters and implementing systematic solutions to improve accuracy.
  • Encourage teamwork, improve performance and develop optimal work schedules/work flow, provide guidance and coach employees. Ensure effective allocation/utilization of resources, maintain compliance with established policies, processes and procedures, while recommending improvements.
  • Ensure a safe work environment by identifying and recommending preventative measures/actions to incidents and by maintaining diligent company standards and complying with all OSHA and DOT requirements.


Minimum Requirements:


  • Engineering degree
  • Must be fluent in Spanish.
  • Knowledge, experience, and interest in Logistics and Warehousing.
  • Personality: Candidates must be organized, methodical in their work, able to learn quickly and easily adaptable to change. Candidates must be able to maintain a high degree of dedication to the difficult challenges of the job. Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to interact and communicate effectively with personnel from all levels of the organization and the ability to work under pressure.
