How much do fplc jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 20, 2026, the average yearly pay for fplc in the United States is $69,125.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $57,000.00 and $78,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are some typical challenges faced by FPLC operators and how can they be addressed?

FPLC (Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography) operators frequently encounter challenges such as maintaining consistent sample purity, troubleshooting equipment issues, and optimizing separation protocols for different proteins. To address these, it's important to develop strong problem-solving skills, stay up-to-date with equipment maintenance, and collaborate closely with research scientists to tailor protocols. Regular calibration of instruments and thorough documentation can greatly reduce errors and improve efficiency in the lab.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an FPLC (Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography) Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an FPLC Specialist, you need a solid background in biochemistry, protein purification techniques, and a relevant science degree. Familiarity with chromatography systems such as ÄKTA, and experience with software like Unicorn for method development and data analysis, are typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and effective communication are crucial soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure accurate purification processes, reliable results, and efficient collaboration in research or biomanufacturing environments.

What is an FPLC and what does an FPLC operator do?

FPLC stands for Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography, a technique used to separate and purify proteins from complex mixtures. An FPLC operator is responsible for setting up, running, and maintaining the FPLC system, preparing samples, monitoring purification runs, and analyzing collected fractions. They ensure the equipment operates correctly, troubleshoot issues, and maintain accurate records of purification protocols and results. FPLC operators often work in research labs, biotechnology companies, or pharmaceutical settings where purified proteins are needed for downstream applications.

What is the difference between Fplc vs Fpso?

AspectFplcFpso
Primary FunctionFabricates and installs pipelines and subsea equipment for offshore oil and gasProcesses and stores oil and gas on offshore platforms, then transfers to tankers
Work EnvironmentOffshore and onshore construction sitesOffshore platforms and processing facilities
Required CertificationsOffshore safety and welding certificationsOffshore safety, welding, and process operation certifications

Fplc (Floating Production, Liquefied Natural Gas, and Subsea Construction) specialists focus on installing subsea infrastructure, while Fpso (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) workers operate and maintain offshore production platforms. Both roles require offshore safety certifications and involve working in offshore environments, but their core responsibilities differ significantly in function and scope.
