Job description

Requisition ID:  96333

Florida Power & Light Company is the largest electric utility in the U.S., providing reliable energy to nearly 12 million Floridians. With one of the nation's most fuel-efficient, cost-effective power generation fleets and industry-leading reliability, we're redefining what's possible in energy. Want to be part of something powerful? Join our outstanding team and help shape the future of energy.

Position Specific Description

This role serves the central portion of Northwest Florida, including Okaloosa and Walton counties. The region is home to one of the nation's largest concentrations of active-duty military personnel, veterans, and military families. As a result, building and maintaining relationships with military leaders, veteran organizations, and other community stakeholders is an important aspect of this position.

Because this role requires a consistent, visible presence throughout the territory, the successful candidate is expected to reside within the service area or relocate to the territory upon hire. The ideal candidate will have strong familiarity with the region and a demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships across the communities they serve. Success in this role depends on understanding the unique stakeholder landscape, local priorities, and the relationships that influence decision-making throughout Northwest Florida.

The External Affairs (EA) Manager serves as FPL's primary community representative within the territory, fostering productive partnerships with local governments, military installations, business and civic leaders, agricultural organizations, nonprofit partners, and other key stakeholders. The role requires credibility, sound judgment, and the ability to represent FPL effectively while navigating the region's unique community dynamics.

During storm events and other emergencies, the EA Manager will coordinate and oversee FPL representation at county Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs) and serve as a key liaison with local officials and emergency management partners. The position also represents FPL at local government meetings, civic organizations, agricultural associations, military and veteran events, and other community forums, serving as a visible and trusted representative of the company and its commitment to the communities it serves.
