The Opportunity:

Gemini Water is seeking a dynamic and solutions-oriented Wastewater Process Engineer for their Gainesville office to support the design, implementation, and optimization of water and wastewater treatment systems across a range of projects, including remote and international locations.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys both technical design and hands-on involvement in project execution. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering practical, efficient, and sustainable treatment solutions, often in fast-paced or resource-constrained environments. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients to ensure successful project delivery from concept through commissioning and operational support.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and optimize wastewater treatment processes, including biological, chemical, and physical treatment systems (e.g., activated sludge, MBR, MBBR, filtration, disinfection)
  • Support the development of process design criteria, PFDs, P&IDs, and technical specifications
  • Contribute to the implementation and deployment of packaged and decentralized treatment systems
  • Provide hands-on support during installation, commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting of treatment systems
  • Conduct process modeling, analysis, and troubleshooting to improve system performance
  • Participate in pilot studies, commissioning, and start-up of treatment systems
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure successful project delivery on time and within scope
  • Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and operational phases
  • Interface with clients to understand operational needs and provide practical, fit-for-purpose solutions
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations, standards, and client requirements across different jurisdictions
  • Prepare technical reports, proposals, and documentation
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and innovation within water and wastewater treatment processes

Key Qualifications, Education, and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental or Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of five plus (5+) years of experience in wastewater treatment process design and/or operations or commissioning
  • Strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes, particularly biological systems (e.g., activated sludge, MBR, MBBR)
  • Experience with decentralized or packaged treatment systems is an asset
  • Ability to physically implement designs
  • Experience with process modeling tools and engineering design software is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to support both design and field execution (commissioning, troubleshooting, start-up)
  • Knowledge of applicable environmental regulations and industry standards
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach to engineering challenges
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience in industrial or remote water treatment projects is considered an asset
  • Professional Engineer (PE) designation or eligibility is preferred
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and standards across different regions is an asset
  • Willingness and ability to travel, including extended periods away from your normal workplace and to project sites in remote or international locations, as required
