OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY
Fox Corporation
Under the FOX banner, we produce and distribute content through some of the world's leading and most valued brands, including: FOX News Media, FOX Sports, FOX Entertainment, FOX Television Stations and Tubi Media Group. We empower a diverse range of creators to imagine and develop culturally significant content, while building an organization that thrives on creative ideas, operational expertise and strategic thinking.
JOB DESCRIPTION
FOX is seeking a Senior Transmission Engineer to join our Fox Network Engineering and Architecture team in Los Angeles, supporting high-profile live sports productions across FOX Sports. As a member of the team, you will collaborate closely with FOX Sports' Engineering and Field Operations teams, designing, implementing, monitoring, and troubleshooting network transmission systems that deliver mission-critical video, audio, and data signals from venues to broadcast and digital platforms.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in broadcast transmission technologies, a strong operational mindset, and the ability to perform under the demands of live event production. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role operating in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment aligned with live sports schedules, requiring flexibility for nights, weekends, and major events.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Architect, deploy, and maintain transmission paths for live sports events, including fiber, satellite, IP-based transport (SMPTE ST 2110 / 2022), and bonded cellular solutions
  • Coordinate and manage contribution and distribution workflows between venues, broadcast centers, and cloud environments
  • Provide real-time operational support for live sports broadcasts, including rapid troubleshooting and escalation management
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and third-party vendors to ensure seamless signal acquisition and delivery
  • Monitor network performance, signal integrity, latency, and redundancy across all transmission paths
  • Design and implement failover strategies and redundancy plans to ensure high availability during live events
  • Support integration of emerging technologies, including cloud-based workflows and remote production (REMI) models
  • Maintain documentation of transmission infrastructure, signal flows, and standard operating procedures
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide support during nights, weekends, and major sporting events

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • 7+ years of experience in broadcast transmission, network engineering, or live production environments
  • Strong knowledge of video transport protocols and standards (e.g., MPEG-TS, SRT, RIST, RTP/UDP)
  • Experience with IP-based broadcast systems, including SMPTE ST 2110 and NMOS
  • Familiarity with satellite uplink/downlink operations and fiber-based contribution services (e.g., Lumen, Zayo, The Switch)
  • Hands-on experience with network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls) in high-bandwidth environments
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex signal paths under time-sensitive conditions
  • Understanding of redundancy models, QoS, and network reliability principles
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with production and engineering teams

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER
  • Experience supporting Tier 1 live sports broadcasts (NFL, MLB, FIFA, etc.)
  • Knowledge of cloud-based media workflows (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Familiarity with remote production workflows and distributed control rooms
  • Scripting or automation experience (Python, Bash, or similar)
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, AWS Certified Solutions Architect)
