OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY

Fox TV StationsFOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network's national content.JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a Freelance Director to join Fox 11 in Los Angeles. As the Show Director, you plan and direct live and live-to-tape news programs and special events. You also work closely with producers to grow and develop show concepts. We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, breaking news control room environment and can anticipate the needs of the editorial team to execute effectively.


A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and direct live andlive-recordednews programs and special events
  • Consult the producing team to improve the overall quality of the show
  • Work with the control room team to execute a high-quality show
  • Collaborate with the team to plan, block, and launch new show concepts
  • Thrive in a highly competitive environment and want to always win

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 5+ years experience directing live television news & specials
  • Proficiency in bothAutomated and Conventional Directing. Sony ELC experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of INews NRCS system is preferred.
  • Know-how to work seamlessly with producers, on air talent, and technical staff
  • Good instincts, creative ideas, strong visual ability and understand when to take risks
  • Leadership capabilities and exceptional ability to stay calm under intense and constant pressure
  • Strong analytical and technical skills
  • Flexibility to work all shifts in a 24/7/365 breaking news environment
  • Solid knowledge of current events and news of the day
  • Technical director skills are a significant plus. Sony MVS/XVS/MLS Switcher experience is preferred.
