Job description

Mission Statement
Michigan Medicine improves the health of patients, populations and communities through excellence in education, patient care, community service, research and technology development, and through leadership activities in Michigan, nationally and internationally. Job Summary
To perform and assist with clinical procedures, maintain equipment, perform laboratory procedures and provide direct patient care.
Responsibilities*
  • Perform patient intake including taking patient vitals and recording the following in our electronic medical record: chief complaint, vitals, patient history: including medical, surgical, family, social (specifically including smoking history, packs per day, etc.), and medication review.
  • Obtain medication prior authorizations.
  • Set up and assist with procedures.
  • Maintain, order, and assemble equipment, as necessary.
  • Assist with procedures.
  • Assist with pre-op clearances.
  • Perform EKGs
  • Case Conference preparation
  • Forms completions
  • Order clinic equipment and supplies, including medications.
  • Maintain stock levels in treatment rooms and exam rooms.
  • Escort patients.
  • Instruct patients on procedures per written guidelines.
  • Assist in sorting and managing the neuro fax server.
  • Participate in creating efficient patient flow coordinating with nursing/medical assistant staff and faculty.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program OR current enrollment in, or completion of coursework in a healthcare professional program (e.g., medical school, PA program, nursing program, or related clinical training) OR an equivalent combination of education and experience (1 -3 years).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical workflows, patient care, and basic medical terminology

Desired Qualifications*
Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA)
