Position Summary: Assist in the identification and guidance of gifted children, provide training to school personnel and parents, coordinate activities and curriculum development, and serve as a liaison with various stakeholders while also providing professional development aligned with the Gifted Operating Standards.
Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Gifted Education or Education-related field
  • Must have valid license or endorsement in gifted education and a teaching license
  • Valid certificate/license as a supervisor, administrator, or educational administrative specialist preferred
  • Evidence of at least three years of successful teaching experience
  • Evidence of at least two years as a gifted and talented teacher and/or program consultant preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in at least one of the following content areas language arts OR mathematics
  • Alternatives to the above as the Board finds acceptable

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists school personnel in the identification, selection, placement and guidance of gifted children.
  • Provides in-service to parents, mentors, aides, and administrators on general education needs and characteristics of gifted children.
  • Provides consultation on curriculum development, teaching strategies, and appropriate materials for use by classroom teachers in assisted children in the regular classroom.
  • Coordinates direct service activities for gifted children, which may include mentorships, advanced coursework, formulation of special seminars, independent study, and interdisciplinary curricular experiences.
  • Develops educational evaluation and accountability procedures, curriculum and staff development activities and instructional or classroom management strategies.

Salary:
Salary schedule placement commensurate with experience and training.
