Job description

Position Summary

Company Name: tastytrade

Role: Software Engineer (Android)

Location: Hybrid - Chicago, IL (3 days/week in office)

Responsibilities

Work with and own the code base for our Android platforms. Write application code using Java and Kotlin. Maintain shared behavior logic written in Java. Improve the code quality of a large code base. Participate in full application lifecycle (concept, design, build, deploy, test, and release to the app store). Solve the type of challenging engineering problems that come with building a highly interactive trading experience. Collaborate with the backend development team to enhance our UI experience. Partner with our product, design, and QA teams to customize the trading experience for the Android platforms.

Qualifications
  • 3 or more years of experience building complex applications for Android using Java or Kotlin.
  • Have shipped Android applications to production.
  • Experience working with large code bases, managing a shared REST API library, and writing unit tests.
  • Can work both independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Experience with Fastlane.
  • Experience building Android applications.
  • Experience with dependency management tools (Gradle/Maven).
  • A passion for UI/UX design.
  • Cross‑Platform experience a plus (iOS + Android).
  • Experience trading equities, equity options, futures, or futures options a plus.

Salary Range

Level I - $135,000, Level II - $146,750, Level III - $158,650. The actual salary offered will be based on the candidate's level of experience and qualifications.
