Job description

Ankura is a team of excellence founded on innovation and growth.
Practice Overview: Ankura's Risk Advisory group, specifically the Forensic Data & Analytics (FDA) team, focuses on high-profile investigations, regulatory compliance, and financial crimes. We excel in navigating complex environments through "Collaborative Lateral Thinking," bringing together diverse expertise to look at problems from unconventional angles. Our team is currently expanding into key markets including New York, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.
Role Overview: The Senior Associate is a hands-on technical role designed for a professional who thrives in an agile, expert-led environment. You will be responsible for unearthing insights from massive, diverse datasets that exceed standard Excel capabilities.
Value Proposition: Join a formative, growing practice where you can have a direct impact on high-profile matters and great upward mobility. You will have direct exposure to diverse, challenging projects with significant business and legal impact.
This role is a hybrid position within one of our offices, ideally Chicago, D.C., or NY.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform hands-on data profiling, establish data flows, and identify patterns or anomalies within general ledgers and financial systems.

  • Use analytics tools and platforms (e.g., SQL, Python, Databricks, and others) to handle complex datasets and develop quantifiable findings for investigations and regulatory matters.

  • Support forensic accounting teams and outside counsel by preparing work product and technical findings.

  • Articulate technical findings clearly for both technical peers and non-technical client audiences.

  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to help develop new capabilities and support group growth.

Requirements:
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience, ideally within a major consulting firm or specialized advisory environment.

  • 2-3+ years of experience using SQL and Python, preferably with additional experience in Tableau, Power BI, R, and / or cloud-based analytics platforms (e.g., Databricks, BigQuery, etc.)

  • Deep technical proficiency in SQL and Python is required.

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related technical field.

  • A proactive mentality with the ability to handle ambiguity and high-stakes, and time-sensitive situations.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are important.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, Colorado, or New York, Ankura is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the said markets and considers a broad range of factors including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. The range does not include additional benefits outside of salary. At Ankura, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each role. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range is between $85,000 to $100,000; this range is not a promise of a particular wage.
