What is a fop?

A 'Fop' is an old-fashioned term historically used to describe a man who is excessively concerned with his appearance, clothing, and manners. In literature and theater, a fop is portrayed as someone who is vain, superficial, and preoccupied with fashion trends, often to a comic or exaggerated degree. The term is largely historical and is not commonly used as a modern job title, but it does appear in discussions of period dramas, historical fiction, and studies of cultural history.
