Company Profile

San Antonio Shoemakers (SAS), a San Antonio, Texas based privately held company, has been in business for 50 years and has developed a reputation as a premier American manufacturer of high quality comfort footwear. 

Position:

SAS has an opening for a Head of Development.

Job Summary:

Work with design team to develop a range of footwear and related products for the SAS brand to help grow the business in line with the brand's aspirations, ethos, and business plan. Lead the development team to engineer products that meet the needs of the target consumers and that clearly differentiate us from competitors. Maintain an in-depth understanding of the global target consumers' needs and market trends and how these relate to the essential characteristics of the brand. Establish and distribute department workload ensuring the product line is developed and delivered on time and according to quality standards. Support the CEO to achieve average price, product cost. and margin targets.

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Design and Technology, or a closely related field. Employer will accept a 3-year Bachelor's degree.

Minimum Experience: 10 years of experience in footwear product development, including product creation, product engineering, production, technical design, fitting, branding, and sourcing. Position also requires 5 years of managerial experience leading product development teams.

Travel Requirements:

This position requires 6% domestic travel and 6% international travel.
