Job description

The Opportunity

On behalf of Under Armour, we are seeking a Senior Footwear Designer to join their growing Sportswear team.

Sitting at the intersection of sport, fashion and culture, Under Armour Sportswear translates the brand’s athletic credibility and innovation into culturally relevant footwear designed for everyday life. The collection spans commercially compelling everyday products through to progressive concepts, premium products and collaborations.

This is a rare opportunity to influence a category while its identity is still being defined. You will bring your own creative point of view, help establish a distinctive design language and create new products and franchises with the potential to become future Under Armour icons. If you want the freedom to translate sport into culture and help establish a new footwear identity within a global performance brand, this is an opportunity to make a genuine impact.

Your Impact
  • Be a key partner in creating brand identity and distinctive UA footwear offerings with a creative and current design vision.
  • Design and present concepts for footwear and overall design direction: material, trim, color.
  • Develop and execute clear and detailed technical packages for development.
  • Ensure that the category meets price point, tells a strong merchandising story and meets development timelines.
  • Express ideas in a variety of ways including sketches, marker rendering, computer illustrations etc.
  • Provide product conceptualization and alternatives that meet the needs of the product as outlined by product marketing and the product brief.
  • Drive the short and long-term design vision and strategies for the category.
Your Experience
  • 6+ years of professional footwear design experience across sportswear, lifestyle or performance categories, including taking products from initial concept through development and into production.
  • A strong footwear portfolio demonstrating original thinking and a clear creative point of view.
  • An understanding of sportswear, fashion and culture, with strong awareness of the US consumer and emerging trends.
  • Strong knowledge of footwear construction, patterns, moulds, materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience working with developers, sample rooms and factories to review samples and resolve development challenges.
  • Proven ability to communicate ideas through hand sketching, digital illustration, rendering and model making.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, with experience using InDesign, PowerPoint and other relevant design tools.
  • Strong presentation and storytelling skills, with an open, collaborative approach and the ability to respond constructively to feedback.
The Essentials
  • Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our Baltimore, MD (Global HQ) or New York City office.
  • Work Schedule: This role follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring four days in-office per week.
  • Travel: 10%.
  • US Work Authorization: Candidates who already have authorization to work in the United States are strongly preferred.
Benefits & Perks
  • Paid “UA Give Back” Volunteer Days: Work alongside your team to support initiatives in your local community.
  • Under Armour merchandise discounts.
  • Competitive 401(k) plan matching.
  • Maternity and parental leave for eligible and FMLA-eligible teammates.
  • Health and fitness benefits, discounts and resources.
