Job Summary
Performs manual cleaning of the assigned building(s). Uses proper methods and materials in cleaning and care for the building area and equipment, participates in the care, cleaning, and general maintenance of the buildings that are assigned, completing all tasks including football, baseball, work orders, etc. as assigned.

Primary Duties and Responsibilitiesย 

  1. Performs manual cleaning of the assigned building(s). Uses proper methods and materials in cleaning and care for the building area and equipment, participates in the care, cleaning, and general housekeeping of the buildings that are assigned, completing all tasks including football, baseball, work orders, etc.) as assigned.
  2. Must be able to show knowledge on the following types of equipment:ย  commercial vacuum cleaners (uprights and backpack vacuums), wet/dry vac, backpack blower, shower machine, and carpet machines.
  3. Sweeps, mops, and scrubs floors; cleans classrooms to include cleaning of desks and tables, chalkboards, white-boards and erasers; washes windows, walls, blinds, trash cans, air conditioning grills, glass and doors.ย  Cleans bathrooms, replenishes supplies, and cleans drinking fountains in assigned buildings. Cleans and polishes brass and stainless steel. Empties trash inside and outside buildings, sweeps entrances and outside steps, ramps, sidewalks, and cleans buildings signs. Cleans entrances (including windows, door areas, and entrance mats), sweeps and mops stairwells, vacuums carpeted areas.
  4. Cleans large public areas such as football stadium, basketball coliseum, baseball stadium, and Bennett Auditorium. Cleans areas used for special events on campus before and after the events.
  5. Unlocks buildings and cleans other areas as assigned in coverage zones.
  6. Responds to emergency situations during and after hours. Emergency situations may include;ย property damage, personal injury, water leaks, flooding, overflowing restroom fixtures, broken window or door glass,ย and accidents resulting in the appearance of bodily fluids (blood, vomit waste, and urine).ย ย 
  7. Serves as a member of the Physical Plant Essential Personnel and as directed by the Physical Plant participates in pre-emergency preparations and post emergency recovery efforts.
  8. Additional duties as assigned by Custodial Leadership.
