Job Summary
CAA is seeking a Lead Data Engineer with deep expertise in data engineering, data architecture, database development, and data modeling to provide technical leadership within our Product Development data engineering team. This role will drive the design, development, and evolution of scalable data solutions that support CAA's enterprise applications. The product development team designs and builds software experiences that support CAA's diverse, global, and high-energy entertainment industry culture of agents, executives, artists, and business partners.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the data engineering team across multiple application development initiatives, ensuring data models, database objects, integrations, and pipelines align with enterprise architecture and application standards.
  • Manage, mentor and provide technical leadership to the Data Engineering team, supporting workload planning, career development, and engineering excellence.
  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of SQL Server databases, including schema design, indexing strategies, query optimization, and stored procedure development.
  • Establish and enforce database development standards, naming conventions, coding guidelines, performance standards, and best practices.
  • Lead document schema design while ensuring appropriate integration patterns between relational and NoSQL data stores.
  • Partner closely with Software Engineering, Architecture, Product Management, QA, and DevOps teams to ensure data solutions support, application scalability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Work with leadership to prioritize work, estimate effort, identify technical risks, and ensure successful delivery of data engineering initiatives.
  • Lead database code and schema reviews, ensuring high standards for data quality, performance, security, and maintainability across the team.

Languages and Frameworks
  • Expert level experience with production Microsoft SQL Server, including data modeling, schema design, stored procedure development, query optimization, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, and performance tuning.
  • Strong hands-on experience with MongoDB, including document modeling and integration with relational systems.
  • Strong experience designing scalable database architectures for enterprise applications.
  • Experience designing data services, as well as working with JSON data structures.

Tools
  • Experience implementing automated database deployments and schema migration processes within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies and Continuous Delivery practices.
  • Experience implementing automated testing, database monitoring, and deployment practices.
  • Experience managing projects using a distributed version control system such as Git and GitHub.
  • Experience collaborating across cross-functional engineering teams in large scale enterprise software environments.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Focus
  • 6-8 years working in Data Engineering with a strong focus on SQL Server.
  • Minimum 3+ years leading a technical team.
  • We expect you to have a passion and experience in shipping and maintaining production software products.

Compensation
The annual base salary for this position is in the range of $151,000 - $168,000 in Nashville. This position is also eligible for benefits and a discretionary bonus. Ultimately, the salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in the role, business sector, and geographic location, among other criteria.
