Job description

Dakota Wesleyan University is seeking to fill two positions under the title of Sports Information Graduate Assistant. This position will report directly to the DWU Sports Information Director, Matt Schwaerzler, and the Director of Athletics, Ross Cimpl.

Successful candidates will have strong written and oral skills, attention to detail, and have a demonstrated commitment to the mission of Dakota Wesleyan University, the athletic department, and our values of learning, leadership, faith, and service.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Duties will cover a wide range of responsibilities and assisting in various tasks, including, but not limited to: Gameday operations, statistical recording, website management, social media posting and management, content capturing and creation, article writing, photography, videography, production and stream management, and mobile app (DWU Tigers App) management. Expertise in any amount of these fields is not required, and duties can be shifted depending on an applicant’s skillset. Preference may be considered to those with a streaming, production, and social media background. Graduate assistants will be expected to attend most/all home events and come into the office during business hours as needed.

Benefits include 2/3 tuition assistance, meal plan, and a $1,500 stipend paid over 10 months.

Qualifications:

  • The ability to work at all or most home events throughout the school year (August-May) is required.

  • The ability to work independently and make tight deadlines is required.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools, or other similar digital software, is required.

  • Direct experience with video streaming, production, and operations is strongly preferred.

  • Previous experience with the Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) is preferred.

  • Experience with and/or understanding of social media management, including content creation, posting, etc., is preferred.

  • Direct experience with PrestoSports, its statistical programs, and statistical recording procedures is strongly preferred.

As a graduate assistant, the individual will also be required to enroll in the Master of Education (M.Ed.) online program either in Athletic and Activities Administration or Educational Policy and Administration.
