Bay FC is the first NWSL team in the Bay Area. Co-founded by four U.S. Women's National Team legends—Brandi Chastain, Aly Wagner, Danielle Slaton, and Leslie Osborne—in partnership with global investment firm Sixth Street, Bay FC is changing the face of women's soccer as we know it. The Head Of Data & Analytics will lead the execution and adoption of Bay FC's data strategy, working closely with Bay Collective (a part of the Sixth Street Family) as a part of our global approach to data. This leader will be responsible for overseeing the use, quality and application of information on the sporting side of the club. This individual will build and guide a cohesive analytics function that serves coaching, medical & performance, football operations, and recruitment – ensuring the systems, processes and talent needed to make data a genuine competitive advantage across sporting operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Global Director of Data & Technology at Bay Collective, to ensure the technical architecture that powers Bay FC's insights ecosystem operates effectively, enabling clean, connected, and reliable data flows across departments. At club level, they will collaborate with technical and sporting leadership to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights that directly enhance on-field performance and player development.

Role Responsibilities

  • Execute the club's data and analytics strategy, aligning with sporting and organizational objectives.
  • Partner with the Sporting Director, Head Coach, and global leadership to define and prioritize key data initiatives, aligning resources allocation with the club's most critical performance and operational needs.
  • Oversee the use, governance and quality of data across soccer operations and promote data-informed decision-making ensuring privacy, security, and ethical use of information.
  • Standardize data structures and processes in alignment with Bay Collective to enhance cross-club comparability, shared insights, and multi-club decision-making.
  • Implement sustainable data systems, documentation standards, and workflows to ensure analytics processes, models, and insights remain a long-term legacy for the club.

Infrastructure & Systems

  • Take operational ownership of the Club's data ecosystem, ensuring pipelines, databases, and automated workflows are effectively implemented, maintained and utilized in coordination with Bay Collective.
  • Ensure seamless flow and integration of information across GPS, biometric, wellness, medical, scheduling and match data.
  • Work closely Bay Collective's Global Head of Data & Technology to ensure systems are operating and communicating effectively to and from the MCO ecosystem.
  • Ensure all analytical work reinforces the Club's football philosophy and supports the broader game model.
  • Champion ongoing research and development, positioning the organization as a leader in applied sports analytics.

Performance & Football Intelligence

  • Translate raw match, event, and tracking data into meaningful performance metrics, visualizations, and insights to support the coaching staff and performance team with pre-match, in-match, and post-match analytical reporting.
  • Support the application of predictive tools and risk models developed in close partnership with the performance and medical departments.
  • Collaborate with sports science, medical and coaching staff to connect workload, wellness, and performance outcomes, incorporating key analytics insights into Individual Development Plans (IDPs) to support holistic player development.
  • Support the club's recruitment by applying and contextualizing player evaluation models, performance benchmarks, and predictive analytics aligned with Bay FC's playing philosophy.

Reporting & Communication

  • Partner with IT and operations to ensure data compliance, infrastructure integrity, and scalability.
  • Lead education and adoption of data-driven practices across the club, sharing insights and feedback with Bay Collective to support the ongoing development of data solutions.
  • Collaborate with marketing, fan engagement, and business operations teams as needed for organization-wide analytics initiatives.
  • Stay responsive to time-sensitive requests from technical leadership and maintain visibility across club-wide communications.

Innovation & Research

  • Stay current on emerging data technologies, machine learning methods, and soccer analytics trends.
  • Support the application and evaluation of new data solutions and technologies within the club environment.
  • Represent Bay FC in data-related partnerships, research collaborations, and industry conferences, strengthening relationships with league vendors and research institutions to keep the club at the forefront of analytics innovation.

Requirements

  • Passionate about advancing women's sports and leveraging data to elevate performance, wellbeing, and recruitment across players and teams.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in data science, performance analysis, or analytics roles within professional football or elite sports.
  • Hands-on background with player monitoring technologies.
  • Familiarity with football specific data platforms (e.g. Statsbomb, Skillcorner) and video tools (Hudl, Wyscout, Sportscode).
  • Prior success scaling data systems, pipelines and reporting infrastructure in a sporting environment.
  • Fluency in Python, R/Shiny, and SQL.
  • Advanced proficiency in Tableau or a comparable visualization platform.
  • Proven leadership experience overseeing data teams or analytics functions in a high-performance sporting environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel with the team.

Compensation: The anticipated salary for this role starts at $140,000. Actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors which can include experience, skills, and scope.
